Published

on

Dame Zaha Hadid, one of the world’s leading architects, has died at the age of 65. She was born in Iraq, but called the UK home for 40 years. Will Gompertz reports.

I noticed the people are with natural talent always have short temper.
They have clear vision of their work. But it’s hard to explain others who has Lower or different understanding.
Specially art is a hard way to proof your talent.
Every one can’t think like you, so you get criticise a lot and some time tagged with un skill full or arrogant for noting.

It's important to remember her designs are breathtaking and extremely difficult to construct. She was doing small buildings, a lot of her designs were on paper until she was given opportunities by Soho China owned by Zheng Xin and Pan Shiyi. From there she had workloads in total of over 1.5 million square metres of buildings design floor area in Beijing and Shanghai. She gradually took off, making her architecture firm an icon, from a design team of 5 initially to now over 400.

The first building may be the only one to be saved but all the others are the ugly results of star architecture system that doesn't compromise with any lochal history and aesthetics. In my opion and being fan of MODERN architecture her work is quite empty shallow and only made for wow effects therefore predictably boring. Although her studio/group of architects seems promising. At the end her only positive note is that she wasn't responsible for the new london skyline one of the worst I ever seen since obviously all China's.

Wish, Saddam Hussein could concentrate on nurturing the talents of Iraqis instead of bulldozing talents and inviting the outsiders to invade in that beautiful country of Iraq! Iraq could become the new modern Babylon if it could avoid the hatreds and war in their good economic periods

My lecturers in the architecture school used to say how unnecessary her architecture was. I came to realization over the years that 1- she is a true artist 2 – she was good at marketing – simple. I think if we have strong convictions (how we think the world should be) + the willpower to persist in face of difficulties we all probably can be some type of Zaha manifestation, not like her but unique in our own ways. I think Zaha is great inspiration not because of her architecture but because of the way she went about pursuing what she loved.

UN says Israeli strike killed six of its Gaza staff | BBC News

Published

on

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) says six of its employees have been killed in an Israeli air strike on a school it runs in central Gaza.

Gaza’s Hamas-run Civil Defence agency said a total of 18 people were killed in Wednesday’s strike on al-Jaouni school in Nuseirat refugee camp, which is being used as a shelter by thousands of displaced Palestinians.
Israel’s military said it carried out a “precise strike on terrorists” planning attacks from the school, and that it had taken measures to avoid harm to civilians.
UN Secretary General António Guterres condemned the strike, saying: “What’s happening in Gaza is totally unacceptable”.

The suspected gunman in the apparent assassination attempt of former US President Donald Trump appeared before a court in Florida today.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, has been charged with federal gun crimes – possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obstructed serial number.

Court documents show that Routh was hiding on the edge of Trump’s Florida golf course for nearly 12 hours before the apparent assassination attempt.

Trump was unharmed during the incident on Sunday – it is the second apparent attempt on his life in two month.

UK meat exports delayed for days due to new Brexit customs rules – BBC News

Published

on

British meat exports are facing long delays, sometime for days, because of extra customs checks and paperwork after the end of the Brexit transition period.

The meat producers’ trade body says exports are at just 25% of normal volumes for the time of year. They say the new rules are “not fit for purpose”.

The UK exports £15 billion worth of food and drink to the EU every year. A third of it is perishable meat, fish and fresh produce.

Sophie Raworth presents BBC News at Ten reporting by business editor Simon Jack.
