Israel accused of targeted killing of civilians in West Bank| BBC News

Published

on

Four brothers killed earlier this month by an Israeli air strike in the occupied West Bank were Palestinian civilians who posed no threat to Israeli forces, witnesses have told the BBC.

Violence in the West Bank has been rising since the war began in Gaza. The United Nations says more than 300 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by the Israeli army since the Hamas attacks on Israel three months ago.

The killing of the four brothers happened hours after a 19-year-old Israeli army officer during clashes with Palestinian groups in the West Bank city of Jenin.

Reeta Chakrabarti presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Lucy Williamson.

This is nothing but terrorism. It is surprising that America and the West do not explicitly evacuate this. Israel is behaving like every colonialist nation in history

You have the audacity to try to portray the Palestinians as poor and sick and persecuted? They are the ones who are killing everybody around and keep standing they want to do it over and over and over again are you stupid, pure evil, or just blind? Either way the reporting" of the BBC is is overtly biassed and should be taken off the air! this is not news reporting, but VILE propaganda.

Didn't BBC propagate a lie earlier that the Hamas Rocket that exploded in the hospital was an Israeli airstrike ?!! 🙂 BBC has no crediblity in reporting, it is nothing more than a propaganda tool like the CNN, MSNBC, and AL Jazeera

Sorry words can’t describe how I feel😭😭 World leaders we can’t keep a blind eye. Israel is terrorizing the Palestinians in West Bank and stealing their land. They don’t have the licence to do what they want by killing innocent people. Send UN military forces in to protect these people. Israel has no rights it .Palestinians WestBank is their country. No occupation from Israel. Why is the IDF always there terrorizing the Palestinians 💭 why is Israel there💭why don’t you charge the settlers for trespassing and assault 💭

Cyclone Idai: Flying over flooded Mozambique – BBC News

Published

on

As Mozambique counts the cost of Cyclone Idai, the BBC’s Africa editor Fergal Keane joined a helicopter flight over some of the worst-affected areas.

The pilot pointed towards the east across the expanse of brown water. “We are 15 miles from the sea,” he said, “but it feels as if we are right over it.” He was right. Below us, farmland that had been home to thousands of people had disappeared.

Charities say thousands of people are stranded by catastrophic flooding, clinging to roofs or stuck in trees.

About 300 people are confirmed dead in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, but the toll is expected to rise.

Killer whale hunts and eats great white shark | BBC News

Published

on

A solitary killer whale, or orca, has been filmed hunting and killing a great white shark in an “astonishing” attack off the coast of South Africa.

Scientists said it was “unprecedented” and showed the exceptional predatory skills of killer whales.

Two orcas in particular off South Africa’s coast have been observed before working together to hunt and kill sharks, including great whites.

Dr Alison Towner, a marine biologist from Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa, led the study.

“This caught us off guard,” said shark biologist Dr Towner.
