I avoid bug infestations by keeping sugars and flour in the freezer

When decorating a cake, before you put it on the cake stand put 3 rectangles of parchment in such a way that the cake sits in the center. After you frost the cake you can slide the parchment out leaving a perfectly clean cake stand.

For brown sugar, you could also use a slice of apple. It has to be replaced periodically, but if you have apples in the house regularly, it's a handy hack.

I keep brown sugar in the fridge/freezer, it avoid the clumping…

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

For brown sugar, a piece of unglazed terracotta added into the tin will keep the moisture down and limit clumping without the mold issue of damp bread and marshmallows.

Four years too late to the comment section, but to suggest a Jaffa Cake is a biscuit…?!

  17. @MrFixit-fb5bu

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

If your brown sugar becomes a hard brick, put the brick in a zip top bag and take a lemon wedge and wrap it in a tissue or paper towel and put it in the bag for a day or two. Boom! Brown sugar is soft again.

  18. @Fyreflier

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

    My hack:
    make a cake
tell no one I made cake
    hide the cake
I get a whole cake to myself

  19. @iluvdissheet

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

  24. @matthewosborne8384

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

Jaffa cakes are not a biscuit. They are a cake because they go hard when stale and not soft like a biscuit would.

  25. @edlillington3455

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

Blink twise if Jaffa cakes are cakes idiots

  26. @prva9347

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

I'll experiment with making purple by mixing red and blue. I already own red and blue. If it works, no need to buy purple specially.

For brown sugar, disposable 2 way humidity pouches will also keep it in good shape. You may be familiar with these if you are a fan of cigars. Boveda makes these and they can be bought on amazon. Obviously don't ever use the same pouch that you used to keep cigars fresh for food stuff, but otherwise they work great and this is even recommended on their website.

  30. @faatman42

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

    Oreos are COOKIES, not biscuits……

  31. @annab6726

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

Place one of the little white silicon packets that come with packages in with your brown sugar. They're safe and will stop the sugar from clumping. You can actually buy them new online if you don't want to use used ones.

  32. @heatherturner8802

  39. @jacqslabz

I love the twirl and I would crumb up peanut butter cookies/biscuits (because I love peanut butter). And I would find some way to add chocolate to the cake.

  45. @tendersheep667

    January 25, 2024 at 1:11 am

A melted marshmallow is not frosting! It's a melted marshmallow and will cool down to just being a marshmallow!
