Published

on

After a three-month closure due to coronavirus, the Alhambra palace in Granada has once again opened its doors.

One of the most visited sites in the world, the monument usually welcomes 2.7m visitors a year but numbers will now be limited due to Covid-19 safety measures.

Jose Antonio Correa, a regular visitor, showed the BBC around the near empty palace.

Therapeutic and preventive measures should never bring more harm than the illness itself. Their aim should be to protect the risk groups, without endegearing the availibilty of medical care and the health of the whole population, as it is occurring with devastating consequences.

Those in the scientific and medical praxis are experiencing the secondary damages of the Corona-measures on their patients on a dialy basis

The government has caused many thousands of deaths with their unlawful and illegal "lockdown" due to lack of treatment. Then they claim these are "covid-19 positive" deaths to boost their inflated statistics

US journalist Evan Gershkovich jailed in Russia | BBC News

Published

on

US journalist Evan Gershkovich has been found guilty of spying by a Russian court and sentenced to 16 years in a high-security prison, after a secretive trial labelled a “sham” by his employer, his family and the White House.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reporter was arrested by security services in March 2023 while working as a reporter in the city of Yekaterinburg, about 1,600km (1,000 miles) east of Moscow.

Russia accuses him of working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), accusations that Gershkovich, the WSJ and the US strongly deny.

He’s the first US journalist to be convicted for espionage in Russia since the Cold War ended more than 30 years ago.

UN top court says Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal | BBC News

Published

on

The UN’s top court has said Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories is against international law, in a landmark opinion.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) said Israel should stop settlement activity in the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza and end its “illegal” occupation of those areas as soon as possible.

The court’s advisory opinion is not legally binding but still carries significant political weight. It marks the first time the ICJ has delivered a position on the legality of the 57-year occupation.

The ICJ, based at The Hague in the Netherlands, has been examining the issue since the beginning of last year, at the request of the UN General Assembly.

Published

on

Colombian naval officials monitoring a sunken Spanish ship laden with treasure have discovered two other historical shipwrecks nearby, President Iván Duque has announced.

The San José galleon was sunk by the British in 1708 near Colombia’s Caribbean port of Cartagena.

The wreckage was located in 2015.

It has been described as the holy grail of shipwrecks, as the ship was carrying one of the largest amounts of valuables ever to have been lost at sea.
