Article 24 is not applicable, even if Brexiters state otherwise.
    It's not only that:
    – all future partners would have to aree (which is highly unlikely in this case),
    – and all other WTO members could veto such an agreement.

Paragraph 5c makes perfectly clear, that there have to be a plan and a schedule for the future relationship.
Right now, we're still in the separation process. Negotiations about any kind of a future relationship (required by Art. 24 5c (GATT)) haven't even begone.

Only need to know 2 things about gatt 24:

First: It doesn't cover services, only a customs union and/or free trade agreement on goods… That alone makes it a virtual non starter.

Second: Either WTO member can veto an interim agreement under Gatt24, so we're at the mercy of the country/trading block we want to trade with as regards a deal.

Either of the above points make Gatt 24 useless to the UK…

love the fact that your little logo shows a map of the UK that is optimistic enough to include Scotland but seems to have given up on N Ireland already. NOBODY voted for a no-deal Brexit because that option was never presented. If that's your idea, then you need a new referendum. If you would like to see some video of Brexit campaigners swearing that they were not aiming for an exit without some kind of deal, then you only have to ask. I will send you countless links.

the WTO has no legal authority actually.

The EU is being difficult now because they don't want the world's 5th largest economy to leave. Once the UK has left the EU will be more than willing to come to an arrangement with a market so large and for the present trade to continue. The EU is not in a strong position here; they are being propped up by Remoaners unwilling to accept the will of the people.

I’ve read Article 24 and my understanding is the same as this video. Farage was on the bbc yesterday (14 May 19) going on about this article as if it was a no brainer! Lies yet again. He also mentioned that our household budgets would go down not up, admittedly mentioning when trade deals were in place. Lies yet again. It is disgusting that he is allowed to play with words in this way which provides a simplified and unrealistic version of post Brexit wto terms arrangement. I cannot believe that people are going to vote for this man!

the EU is the world biggest single market, it effectivly appoints most WTO Directors, it will surely know how to bend WTO according to its interests when dealing with the rouge state Britain

I fail to see what the Irish border has to the with trade the prime minister of northern Ireland said nothing will change they won't pay for it why put that in there, I've listened to 21 people talk about this article 24 keeps the trade going between countries traders and people if it is agree between countries I see it working and everyone benefits so let's face it we know the EU needs the UK badly because the UK buys more goods EU won't want them buying somewhere else, it should of been triggered straight away.

“I think we have had enough of experts” – Micael Gove. So who are we going to trust.. looks like 17.4 million people wanted to be experts on the day. WTO has never been a default or failsafe.. just another possibility.. Mogg says we can buy all the chlorine chicken and chemically enhanced beef we want from the States and the same for Australia. UK can just drop its standards on imports and buy twice or thrice instead of once from any nation which is prepared to take our money. Again the poor and weak suffer and standards run down in the uk

Come on all of you’s there treason going on with Holly Robins T May Holly was over heard and taped deceiving the Britain voter on Brexit that’s why it is taken so long. On the other subject of Auricle 24 GATT Britain traded under GATT from 1948 until 1995. It is similar to WTO Ir gives us 10 years free trade. The N Ireland backstop was orchestrated to keep Britain in the Customs Union. This have always been lie. The N Ireland border can be digitally done. There has been a lot of deceiving the British Voters who voted to leave. Its all a load of bollox this backstop is also illegal. T May don’t want to leave. She is committing full blown treason the same as Holly Robins is and there is a group of people and MP working in the background to keep us in a Customs Union and to keep paying into European Defence. T May have been lying and deceiving the public and a lot of her own party and most of parliament. She should be in prison so should Holly Robins and the others that have been working on this deceit to fool and con the people that voted for Brexit there will be an investigation into it I would think.

  18. @zipz8423

Article 24 hasn't been talked about by the Government because it never applied to a nation leaving a customs area, only a nation joining one wanting to continue using current terms for 10 years in a transition period.
Even Moggy and Fromage have stopped feeding this particular unicorn.

This open sore (from the Euro Skeptics) has been running for over a decade. When the UK went into the EEC they did with their eyes open. To allow your population to vote one! And two not to have that you need 75% to carry this is madness. Margret Thatcher put the "Great" back into Great Britain. I wonder what she thinks of this now?
