I have paid (or been paid for) up to $300 CDN for a truly fantastic once in a lifetime meal for two. If I were to really really splash out, would pay perhaps a bit more, with great wine, but honestly, I have a small tummy, and can definitely appreciate (and often prefer) being a cheap date too. It just depends on context. Great bowl of street noodles and a chilled beverage, very happy person.

I make ginger tea at home when I'm feeling unwell. I save the peels of my ginger in the freezer to make it with. Feels nice to be making my tea from real ginger. Makes me feel fancy. I think I'd be too stressed by the price of that jar to enjoy it.

I've been a huge fan of The Flying Fijian Rugby team for years. It's terrifying to me that Fiji is a country so poor that they can't afford a training facility and have to use the church as one, their mums knit all their rugby kit, tickets sell for $35, businesses have to take turns donating lunch because there's no budget to feed the lads; also, the majority of the population is under the poverty line; Yet, somewhere in Europe, Great Britain or North America there's some yoga-mom trying to charge people EIGHTY POUNDS for ginger grown there.
