Ukraine president hails nation’s ‘year of invincibility’ one year after Russia’s invasion – BBC News
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has hailed his nation’s “year of invincibility”, one year after Russia’s invasion.
In a television address, President Zelensky said Ukraine would “do everything to win this year”.
He also took part in a ceremony honouring Ukrainian soldiers and families. Similar ceremonies are taking place in cities and towns across Ukraine.
In the UK, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak led a national minute’s silence in support of Ukraine.
The occasion has not been mentioned on Russian state television.

Today, an undercover BBC investigation has found evidence of law firms and legal advisors helping migrants pretend to be gay to get asylum.
Migrants were advised to take staged photos at nightclubs, attend LGBT events and to go to GPs pretending to be depressed to obtain medical evidence to support their cases.
Adam and Chris are joined by BBC politics investigation correspondent Billy Kenber, who uncovered the story. In response to our findings, the Home Office said: “Anyone found trying to exploit the system will face the full force of the law, including removal from the UK.”

Hungary has seen a historic election result. After 16 years in power, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been ousted from the role.
Péter Magyar’s Tisza party won a comfortable “super majority” with two-thirds of the seats in parliament, meaning the party will be able to change the constitution.
The defeat will mean a huge reset of Hungary’s relationships with the rest of the world.
Orbán has been a close partner of both US President Donald Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and he had become a big thorn in the side of the EU and Ukraine.
The BBC’s Europe Editor Katya Adler was in Budapest as the election unfolded, and takes you with her in this video as a historic defeat takes place.

Americans are reacting to President Donald Trump’s escalating feud with Pope Leo XIV and the backlash surrounding an AI-generated image depicting the president as a Jesus-like figure, which has since been deleted.
On Monday, Trump posted a lengthy Truth Social message attacking the pontiff, who has been a vocal critic of the US and Israeli military operations in Iran.
He criticised the Pope, calling him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy”.
The Pope said on Monday that he has “no fear” of the Trump administration or “speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do”.

US President Donald Trump said US-Iran talks could restart in Pakistan “in the next two days”, though Iran is yet to comment.
He also said the war is “very close to over”, in a preview of an interview released by Fox News.

If China does not arm Russia now, China will become a victim of the West in the future. So China should help Russia with the right weapons. Now is the time to teach the West a lesson. China should definitely provide arms support to Russia in due course. There is no doubt that the West will eat Beijing in the future. China will be wiped out from Manchuria forever. Let's be honest! If for instance the President of Ukraine had heed the advise not to join NATO which is the deadly and 'cut-throat' enemy to Russia given the cold war history, will this devastating war had happened? Check your history the same thing happended in Africa when in Rwanda in 1994 an anti- government at that time downed the Plane that was carrying the Rwandan President Major General Juvenal Habyarimana and his Burundi's counterpart President Ntadyamira and the outcome was brutal killings of millions of innocent Tutsis in Rwanda and Hutus hunted in then Zaire now DRC by the victorious RPF fighters supported by the West as it is the case with war in Ukraine today although at different scale. Why don't you learn from these crazy war strategies which cannot bring peace to any one? Think of Rwanda today 29 years down since RPF took power, you believe the country is secured from another civil war? I beg to differ because in Rwanda you have to be a Tutsi (actually not every Tutsi) but those who repatriated from Uganda and speak English, and not from Tanzania or Burundi! In 50 years to come if nothing is done to forgive each other and build an inclusive Rwanda, Hutus will definitely fight back. Rwanda is a beautiful country make it a peaceful one for all Rwandese, Hutus, Tutsis and the Batwa. And mind you, when I give this advise, I am not referring to H.E Major Gen. Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, no! H.E had done his job already and he want be there 50 year to come! God doesn't like the way you are treating each other.
