Coronavirus: How bad is the situation in Europe? – BBC News
The number of people dying from coronavirus in Italy has risen by 475 in one day to nearly 3,000 – the biggest increase since the outbreak.
There are a total of 35,713 confirmed cases in the country, with more than 4,000 having successfully recovered.
Lombardy, the worst-hit region, recorded 319 deaths in one day.
Italy is the world’s worst affected country after China, where the virus originated last year. At least 8,758 people have died, most in China.
Spain now has 598 dead and 13,716 infections. An inquiry is to be launched into the deaths of at least 17 residents of a nursing home in Madrid, where dozens of cases of Covid-19 have been reported.
In France, the number of confirmed cases grew by more than 16% on Tuesday, reaching 7,730, while the death toll rose to 175, with 7% of the dead aged under 65.
In the UK, the number of dead has reached 104.
Germany has 12 deaths and 8,198 cases. In a TV address, Chancellor Angela Merkel urged Germans to abide by restrictions aimed at combating the pandemic. “Since German reunification, actually, since World War Two, there has never been a challenge for our country in which acting in solidarity was so very crucial,” she said.
Belgium has 14 deaths and 1,486 cases.

Social media giant Meta has agreed to a $18bn (£13.3bn) settlement with US states and territories to resolve claims that Facebook and Instagram harmed children.
A California judge approved the settlement, which Meta must pay to 48 states, plus the District of Columbia and three US territories, marking the company’s largest payment over child safety litigation to date.
Meta will also implement a host of changes aimed at better protecting kids online, which the states had demanded, including default daily time limits and night-time blocks.
Meta has denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement and said on Wednesday that the payment it agreed to “will be distributed in annual instalments over a 10-year period”.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has told the BBC that PC Andrew Harper’s killers will remain behind bars as he announces changes to the early release scheme aimed at easing prison overcrowding.
In an exclusive interview with BBC Breakfast, Burnham said anyone convicted of manslaughter will be excluded from changes brought in under the Sentencing Act, which would have made the killers eligible for early release.
Burnham said extra prison spaces would be created by deporting “hundreds” of foreign prisoners and releasing some inmates serving indefinite sentences.

Wonderful these "infection clusters". Unfortunately there are NOT ENOUGH OF THEM. Everyone struggles to find positive-tested among relatives, neighbours, etc.
Let us hope that finally and very soon pharmacies will have received the long-overdue coronavirus pills (in cheap generic drug, reimbursed by the Health Insurances), so that everyone can at will become positive as soon as possible and thus be able to finally end-up immune (after a short period feeling sick) without the enormous risk associated with a future vaccine-poison, expensive and ineffective. Old peoples are not obliged to take them because they are somewhat more at risk, in case of ancillary morbidity conditions.
According to statistics from the Italian Ministry of Health, a country heavily affected by coronavirus, deaths from coronavirus are 99% for the chronically sick, smokers, diabetics, cardiac, old age, or having several of these factors at the same time.
Again, book your coronavirus pills at your local pharmacy, because there may be a rush in the first days and weeks, or find a patient who will agree to transmit the virus for free.

UK is a most infected country in the Europe, it's a shame, over 20 000 people's died for coronavirus but nobody wears a face mask. People are still working in a lot of companies, don't have a chance to keep social distance. The situation in UK is terrible because of ignorance. Every body brakes the safety rools. And this is the reason why 20 000 people's died, British people prefer to infect theirs families than wear a face mask.
