What do we know about Russia’s claim it thwarted Ukraine offensive? – BBC News
Russia’s defence ministry says it has thwarted a major Ukrainian attack in Donetsk, in the latest sign that a wider counter-offensive may have begun.
Video of what Russia says is the battle shows military vehicles under heavy fire in fields. Russia claims it killed 300 troops and destroyed 16 tanks.
However Moscow’s claims have not been independently verified.

At least 224 people are dead and a state of emergency has been declared after Colombia was hit by one of its largest earthquakes in years.
The death toll is likely to rise, with more feared trapped under collapsed buildings.
The magnitude 7.4 quake struck at 07:34 (12:34 GMT) at a depth of 103km (64 miles) in Chocó province, the country’s geological service said. It was felt across an enormous area, stretching for hundreds of miles across western Colombia.
Many of the deaths have been concentrated in Cali, Colombia’s third most populous city.

A man has died and thousands of people have been told to evacuate their homes amid torrential rain and flash flooding in Australia’s largest city, Sydney.
Roads have been cut off, with 18 evacuation orders in western Sydney alone and warnings of more to come.
“This is a life-threatening emergency situation,” Stephanie Cooke, emergency services minister for the state of New South Wales, said.

Great article and none of this Ukraine and Russia are accusing each other nonsense. Russia did this but of course are trying to dampen the response to the atrocity with disinformation and counter accusations. It is fair to report Russias lies but giving them equal credence like some of the press are is taking the wrong side.

We know the bbc lies about everything except the russian death toll of 25,000.
Ukraine has lost over 350,000 as admitted by many washington insiders.

Tbis offensive is just a media presentation and it is failing because it was never going to succeed.

As Orban pointed out, humanity has been forgotten.
