Australia’s first openly gay imam, Nur Warsame, counsels Muslims around the world not to feel shame about sexuality.
Unable to travel due to security concerns, he set up Marhaba – an online prayer group – five years ago.
He tells the BBC how his efforts have helped to “heal” families.

We all have our struggles we’re all tested one way or another. I know dat cuz wat I’ve been tested with is my drive for sex. I was raped as a child continuously, making me crave for it more than the average 5 yr old the older I got the worse it became I began watching porn at around seven I would masturbate around 5 times sometimes 7 times a day. I had no self control only lust it’s wat I could remember from my younger days, coming from a Muslim home this somewhat broke me angered and annoyed me some way or another I tried fighting it. I tried fighting 13 years of what I am. Am not the type to like type a lot of words so I’ll summaries the bit. it was hard very hard I wondered why ALLAH had allowed me to be raped as a child why would he do this to me is he not aware of this? It was my excuse for sexual gratification for exploitation but even with all that deep within it felt wrong which confused me because I thought I was condemned but I didn’t like it. it wasn’t me even tho I felt it was Altho dis is still somewat me I’ve regained some semblance of control in my life my faith in GOD is stronger Dan b4 and it’s growing a lot. I don’t judge ALLAH for the test he puts me through Altho I don’t understand it I can’t say am mad or conflicted about it. Putting it simply it just happened kinda like how war happens I just had to live and maneuver my way trying to stick to the LAWS. Am not imposing my ideals on the gay muslims but if Ders one thing I know for sure is we’re somewat tested with some form of unacceptable sin, whether it’s our primal desires or so we all have it like dat if your struggling with your identity, frankly speaking it’s understandable in its own way(not really for me but u do u) wat helped me fight my own sexual identity was my luv for ALlAH and just being righteous. u simply accepting your gay feels like u aren’t even seeing it as your test, instead it’s like a question being if ALLAH is so great why did u make me like dis type shi. U obviously didn’t accept it at first but someway along the line you were lost and I simply know u just didn’t wanna try anymore not d type of stuff a real Muslim would do.

So you are making haram, halal then you aren't a Mulsim any more. As someone that had been plagued with these thoughts and came to Islam and found peace in what I was doing wasnt good for me.

Having gay thoughts isn’t haram. Acting n them is and it certainly shouldn’t be preached as a practice. It doesn’t take you out of the fold of Islam but it’s sinful and we don’t encourage or promote sin.
