Coutts ‘right to close Farage’s account’ claims consumer expert as political pressure on bank mounts

Published

on

‘It’s completely normal for banks to take some customers and not others, that’s the nature of banking.’

Consumer expert Jeremy Baker says he ‘supports’ Coutts Bank’s decision to close Nigel Farage’s bank account because they don’t agree with his political views.

This bloke is talking through his arse – and it stinks (literally) to high heaven. I've seldom heard so much nugatory clap-trap from a so-called 'expert'.

what this guy is saying is rediculas as he was a customer he didn't apply and was rejected he had a mortgage with them and they cancelled him for his personal views which they suddenly decided they didn't like, the stuff that came out was because he talked yo trump that's. different than money laundering isn't it and this social credit score they share is making it difficult to get any bank, he hasn't done anything criminal and shouldn't have been cancelled at all from a sector the public bailed out.

This gentleman is senile, and / or drunk, he is just quoting banking expressions he has heard, his arguments do not work together. i suggest you do not listen to this fool, he brings nothing to the discussion apart from some classist and bigoted viewpoints.

This guy completely misses the point that it's not just Farange and a snob bank – there are 100s of thousands of people – not upper class – whose accounts have been claused by high-street – not snob – banks simply for foreign-sounding names or dual nationality or having worked for a Russian company 20 years ago. This "expert" is in need of being put through the same experience.
And the whole point is that yes, it's normal – and it SHOULDN'T be.

    January 11, 2024 at 10:15 pm

The conflict is not about the class system, banks may not crucify any body. Times have changed this is not only about coutts, the banking system have united with the coutts chairman to destroy a man who is a political opponent. We do not live in a Nazi state yet. The government had better put this right or get out of office.

This 'expert' completly misses the point, that Farage (and thousand of others who have had their accounts closed) has done nothing illegal or wrong. He neither addresses the point about what happens to millions of people who might share Farage's views on many topics. He seems to be implying that everyone should either comply vith whatever the banks' political views are, or have their accounts closed.

This guy is right it’s a snobby bank for only the small majority.
That’s why he was offered a Nat west account & not offered his old account back simple as that.

This chap is a consumer expert is he? My god hes clearly a half wit, i dont wish to be offensive to a senior citizen but its dangerous in my opinion to label this poor befuddled old boy an 'expert' in anything other than perhaps longevity.

"Unfortunately revealed to the public, an ugly side of banking". So according to this elitist, it was all fine doing this sort of thing when they were able to hide the fact that they were doing it from the unwashed masses.

  32. @edsheringham751

    January 11, 2024 at 10:15 pm

We can well do without consumer "experts" of this kind. The man can't seem to differentiate between what is legal activity and illegal activity. A crucial matter I would have thought for an expert on any subject.

Why do we take notice o this idiot,

  35. @elkabongg2716

    January 11, 2024 at 10:15 pm

He is conflating Farage, an individual citizen of this country, with international organisations. This is partly a problem of a globalist mindset that doesn't recognise that rights are afforded to citizens by the populace through government and should not necessarily be assumed by outside organisations. Also unlike in his younger days a bank account is as needed to manage life in a reasonable manner and has to be considered a basic right as much as access to gas, water, electricity and other utilities. I don't think many would agree that its ok to cut off your electricity if the company head didn't like your politics. I suspect we could be heading in that direction though, it's the next logical step.
