Ukrainian and Russian soldiers fighting in streets of Bakhmut – BBC News
Ukrainian and Russian soldiers are fighting on the streets of Bakhmut, but the city hasn’t been taken by Russia just yet according to the city’s deputy mayor, Oleksandr Marchenko.
He told the BBC that the city is almost destroyed, with not a single building untouched as a result of the conflict.
Russian troops – from Wagner and regular Russian forces – are believed to have the city surrounded, but thousands of its troops are reported to have died during the offensive.

Is Washington leaving Saudi Arabia to fend for itself?
Last week, Houthi rebels launched a series of missile strikes on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital. Surveillance footage showed a fireball erupting as airport passengers ran for cover. At least fourteen people have been killed and hundreds were injured.
The attack is the latest escalation in a decade-long war between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in neighbouring Yemen. The Saudis have long relied on financial, military and intelligence support from the United States, particularly in their fight against the Houthis. But Washington so far has shown little appetite for direct involvement in the fighting.
So why is the United States holding back? And what does that mean for the people caught in the middle?
The BBC’s chief international investigations correspondent, Nawal Al-Maghafi, recently reported from inside Yemen and joins The Global Story’s Asma Khalid to discuss why this conflict is escalating and what might happen next.

A Kenyan judge has started to deliver a verdict in a mass murder case involving doomsday preacher Paul Mackenzie.
Mackenzie and 29 of his followers are being charged with the murder of 191 people, all but one of them children.
His cult is alleged to have forced children to starve to death so that they could “meet Jesus”.
Mackenzie and the 29 others have all pleaded not guilty to murder, repeatedly insisting that nobody was forced to die.

Twenty years ago, the United States claimed that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction and chemical weapons. The United States prepared 150,000 troops from the US army and 40,000 troops from the British army, and the US president declared the beginning of the war on Iraq. We did not hear any objections from European countries to the American invasion of Iraq. The whole world watched as the sky over Baghdad turned into a ball of fire. Just three weeks were enough to face the Iraqi army and collapse it completely. Three weeks turned Iraq from a country that had reached the stage of self-sufficiency to a broken state dominated by sectarian war and extremist groups emerged. The whole world was silent, but everyone screamed and opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Yes, the Iraqis suffered a great shock due to the war and were greatly affected. Around 200,000 Iraqis were killed during this conflict. Even today, Iraq continues to suffer from the consequences of this invasion, including security chaos, ethnic and religious divisions, and the extensive destruction of infrastructure and vital facilities. These consequences represent a major challenge to Iraq's efforts to build a stable and prosperous future.
After several months of war, the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was arrested, and inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency declared that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The United States deceived the whole world, and we did not hear any reaction from European countries. Western media still lacks credibility in this matter.

When are the Russians going to realise they have already lost….there is no way they can have a winning outcome from the war they started on Ukraine…If they lose the war, they lose the future of Russia for the next several generations, if they win the war they still lose the future of Russia for the next several generations…best thing the Russians can do is overthrow Putin, give up all his regime and the propagandists to the West for trial and claim they were led into the conflict by a madman that they were all scared of and ask for forgiveness and help rebuilding Russia into a civilised, real democracy…that's their best outcome from all of this..!!

If Russia wins, it means that they beat NATO. I wonder if the man speaking here knows anything about Ukranian losses. It should be self evident that he does, I can hear people say, but it's not. People hear what they want to hear and disregards the rest. That's central for every propagandist when they create a narrative that flatter their target groups. According to Pentagon, Ukraine has 122 thousand KIA's. 36 thousands missed in action and over 300 thousand wounded. Ursula von der Leyen's tongue slipped in her speech before the EU congress, but she took it back the day after. That Pentagon then had published these numbers made it only worse. My question is if West is supporting Ukraine or helping to destroying them. The figures given by the US army is more than a month ago, so many more have died. The ambassador speaks about Russians dying in Bakhmut. Yes, sure they die! Only not in the numbers hinted at by him. If you let the artillery and air force do the job for you, your numbers of dead will be lower. It's logic. No one controls internet fully yet. The shorts individual troops upload are the best source. They tell it as it is. The Ukranians are running out of ammunition and the only way into Bakhmut is within the range of Russian artillery. America has pressed Zelensky to get his men and machines out, but he has refused so far. Now it's hard to see exactly how they will be able to take their weapons out. They will probably go the way the rest West has given have gone.
