Homelessness in England: ‘There’s no space for my baby’ – BBC News.

Published

on

The housing charity Shelter said that 126,000 children were living in temporary accommodation in England.

The BBC talked to two mothers who live with children in just one room.

Rebecca lives with her children in former student halls in Luton and relies on food banks. She said: “I’m stressed because I am thinking about the room, it is too small me.”

Ania, who has been living with her two children in a Peterborough hotel room, said: “I try to be strong but I’m really, really tied.”

Charities say that living under these conditions is putting the children’s life chances at risk,

I do NOT feel sorry for Rebecca! She's crazy! I wish that she was standing in front of Judge Judy. Judge Judy would rip her another one for making these foolish decisions concerning herself and her children.

Why would you live in a tiny shoebox room with four children already, complaining that you are in pain every morning because it’s difficult to sleep on the floor and then decide to have more children?

The government should really give these sorts of people about 6-12 months of free (yep I said it), free child care and within that time these people should study and work their asses off to afford enough money to pay for further child support on their own whilst also being able to support themselves. And if they fail, really they need shipping off to Rwanda.

Five children but expecting hard working, responsible individuals to subsidize for their every need, including handing them a house that has been provided by the taxpayer. How disgusting and setting such a bad example for the children. Laziness and poor parenting rolled into one. 😡

Do I feel sorry for a woman who gets pregnant "again" who can't afford to take care of the four she already has? No.

Too complain about your lack of accommodations for your children when you put yourself and them in that situation is ridiculous.

She and her partner put herself and those kids in their situation. Why should the city or country take care of them?

I feel for the kids. Not the irresponsibility parents.

A man also decided to get her pregnant – then leave – takes 2 to tango not 1. Education and consistent support. Not happening here. In the favelas where I lived the birth control was given in a 3 month injection which costs money. So when the Charity doctors left the girls were at risk. It isn’t always that simple. I get it as I have an education and was beaten by my husband for saying no. Seriously beaten. I kept a spare supply,y of my pills as he his my other ones. I was lucky as I had a big, martial arts practising sister who threw my ex out and helped me to manage the pub where we had worked. I got nothing from the government. The gov doesn t care. My sister helped me.

When the English colonized America, they rounded up their homeless and enslaved them to work the fields. Along with the Irish. Some white Americans are descendants of the first American slaves. It is the Elite against us. Not white against black.

I feel sorry for the people from the flooded house having to manage in a hotel room with young kids, with no proper facilities. But the second family… having more and more kids… why..? Presumably to beat the system and get accomodation due to overcrowding? They've created their own problem, now need to face the consequences.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.

Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
