with the cheese one, that could be a fun one to crowdsource at a workplace. everyone who wants cheese can chip in some money and then have a weekly cheese party. if you have, say 15 members interested, then thats about 10 pounds per person. not bad at all!

I want the minced pie calendar!!!! The cheeses sound fabulous, but I can't afford anything like that for just cheese.

Calling people “normals” makes you seem pretentious

I know this is an old video but they never spoke about the duplicates. That only makes a box go down in value for me if there is like 4 items in the whole box being repeated. The spices looked like a ton of duplicates, the candy looked like it had several too.

no offense to Selfridges but since when are mince pies dying out? 😂 I buy a box almost every week and have one almost every day in December with a hot chocolate

  6. @kristie1584

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

Next year, if you do this one again, could you do it earlier so we have time to buy and ship them before December starts?

  7. @kristie1584

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

Very nice selections. I would buy all of them if I knew I wanted them(in advance) and saved up through the year. It gives you a little celebration every day leading up to the Holiday. Well Done!

I’m not hating on the price of the cheese advent calendar tbh! Like if you compare for example the spice calendar it looks much more reasonably priced but if you do the math it comes out at around £1.15 per sachet (excluding shipping and the full tin). A tin of Just Spices is usually what £3.50 in the shop? And they’re getting at least 8 sachets out of one so the regular price would be only £0.42 per sachet. Add a few bucks for packaging but that’s still a huge mark up!
Now a handcrafted hand wrapped artisan cheese I would expect to cost around £5. The sizes are very decent and comparable to what you’d find in a shop. That already puts you at £120 for 24 pieces. Add on £15 for the 3 deliveries and some extra for the packaging and exclusive flavours and you’re reaching about £150. It’s not something many people can afford to spend on cheese of course but it’s not bad value for money in my opinion.

"this time next year we make our own" i mean they did… they havent used these boxes yet, but either way the calendar they got us this year is amazing!

As an American, I do not understand Advent Calendars. It is not super popular here. In fact, “expensive” advent calendars still have garbage chocolate in them. But more than the disgusting, waxy chocolate, what is the point? Also, none of them start on Dec. 1. Ours do not have 25 doors…

  26. @loreleihayden454

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

9:06 – Ben's idea here is one I'd actually LOVE to see you guys try! D.I.Y. foodie advent calendars. You guys suggest that idea every year, but haven't tried it yet, and it would be a slam-dunk holiday feature video next year.

Samples of fancy compound butters, little jars of homemade pickles or jams, spice blends tailored to the recipient, homemade fudges or caramels or marshmallows– Everybody comes up with one DIY advent calendar to give as a present! Maybe using last year's calendars' cute little boxes, if you've saved them. It's definitely a large project to coordinate, but it would be SO worth it! 😀

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

Do people buy Advent calendars as gifts or for themselves/ household? That might change whether you'd purchase them or not.

  28. @salarkin

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

As a cheese lover, I would be so happy to receive the Paxton & Whitfield advent calendar. I honestly do not think its a bad price, considering the amount of cheeses you are receiving, the multiple deliveries and the amount of work going into prepping those boxes. As someone who hosts a fair amount during the month of December, this would take out so much work for me – and we have a cheese board on Christmas Eve so this would be perfect for that!

  29. @GaryKidd

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

Maybe next year review some Deluxe Christmas Crackers.

Stupid marketing decision to make the beer calendar so expensive… This would surely have created a lot of new customers.

Calling telicherry peppercorns "fancy" is funny as hell to me. They probably buy telicherry peppercorns and don't even realize it they're so common these days. Certainly if they're buying pepper from any spice store. They're basically the same price as normal black peppercorns these days.

Can we get any of these in Canada?

Fortnums – Wonderful Advent Calendar and once you have bought the wooden box structure then you can buy the refill each year. We also bought our pupper a wooden Advent calendar and we fill the drawers with healthy treats like dried venison sausage – she knows exactly where it is 😉. The other one I can recommend is the Bonne Maman jam – a little jar of different jam each day and many are calender specials like strawberry and lavender.

  37. @funduedplays6952

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

the other thing with the beer calander is it may be novlty but your not buying a whole case your geting one can of each flavor so you dont have to commit to a thing you dont know if your going to like it

  38. @crawfishpi

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

The beer and the cheese are truly next level and I am upset that I cannot afford that lifestyle

Am I the only one who thinks that cheese one considering everything is a huge bargain?

  41. @dredzik

    January 7, 2024 at 8:08 pm

I took the risk and unfortunately got burned. The Laduree advent calendar is an absolute garbage. £70 for the amount of content you get is an total joke. Next time try £30.

2:29 looks so questionable without context
