Coronavirus: Second British death and more than 100,000 cases worldwide – BBC News
A second person has died from coronavirus in the UK. He was an elderly man with underlying health conditions. The number of people now infected with coronavirus in the UK has risen again to 164, up from 116 yesterday. It’s the biggest UK increase in a single day so far.
Around the world, there are now more than 100,000 cases. Of those, more than half – almost 56,000 people – have recovered. But more than 3,400 have died.
Meanwhile, more than 3,500 people are being held in quarantine on a cruise ship off the coast of San Francisco, after a 71-year-old passenger died of the coronavirus.

The Duchess of Sussex has made her first official public appearance since moving back to the UK, telling well-wishers “it’s great to be back”.
Along with her husband Prince Harry, Meghan has been visiting charities in Nottingham – the city where they made their first official engagement together nine years ago.

Saudi Arabia has said three people have been killed after the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen attacked Riyadh airport on Thursday.
It’s the latest in series of attacks on airports across the country, as the conflict escalates between Saudi-supported Yemeni government forces and the Houthis.
Elsewhere a US Treasury official has told the BBC that economic pressure from America has Tehran ‘on its knees’, and they hope the tactic will end the current regime in Iran.
Meanwhile Iran’s president has said his country will not walk away from peace negotiations, despite threats from the United States.

Booker prize winner Margaret Atwood describes herself as an “observer,” but in her many novels she has often offered us a portal to understanding, be it about totalitarianism, or the idea of other forms of life, future and past.
In her latest book, Old Babes in the Woods, she navigates death and the loss of loved ones, in short stories which are both acerbic and hilarious, as well as adding to her fantastical oeuvre, such as an octopus-like creature narrating its own interpretation of a folk tale.
Seven of the stories feature the characters Tig and Nell, a thinly-veiled portrayal of Atwood and her long-life partner Graeme Gibson who died four years ago. Margaret Atwood began her interview with Kirsty Wark with a reading from the darkly funny story, Widows.

As I am an Asian(South Korean 한국인), I really hate to see that Europeans or Westerners begin to stare and discriminate against Asian, however somehow I understand why they look down the culture of Asia that some part of Asia has still low level of civilization society. Like eating bats, dogs, stepping someone's feet and never say "sorry," yelling, burping in front of others. No wonder why some of westerners still ignore Asians. The classy way of living, speaking, manners, open mind and all sort of advanced things we should learn from Westerners(especially, English and American/Canadian). Thats why I am trying to integrate myself into the Anglo-culture. (As an Asian, Singapore is the great model for me, Not Japan) I hope that someday people will see me as I was born in some part of English speaking countries.

The old coronavirus found in 2002, does not modify its own genetic code when it enters different blood types. This means that this virus is going to be a big headache for biologists. If there is anything worse to happen, it is facing global warming that has been melting the polar caps at an accelerated rate and throwing mutant bacteria and viruses into the sea that have been incubating in the feces and urine of dinosaurs in the ice for millions of years. The fish may be contaminated since it started in a fish market in China.
