COP28: King Charles says dangers of climate change are no longer distant risks | BBC News
King Charles III has urged world leaders gathered in Dubai to make the COP28 climate summit a “turning point”.
In a speech on the second day of the conference, the monarch warned that despite some progress “we remain so dreadfully far off track”.
He called for “genuine transformational action”, a day after the meeting opened with stark warnings on global warming.
The King said he has spent “a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats facing us over global warming, climate change and biodiversity loss”.
He said that despite this, decades later there is 30% more CO2 in the atmosphere now than back then, and almost more than 40% more methane.

Americans are reacting to President Donald Trump’s escalating feud with Pope Leo XIV and the backlash surrounding an AI-generated image depicting the president as a Jesus-like figure, which has since been deleted.
On Monday, Trump posted a lengthy Truth Social message attacking the pontiff, who has been a vocal critic of the US and Israeli military operations in Iran.
He criticised the Pope, calling him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy”.
The Pope said on Monday that he has “no fear” of the Trump administration or “speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do”.

Hey, it’s a pleasure to be able to comment. I hear a lot of the stuff regarding the green new deal in global warming, but y’all speak from this viewpoint of like the whole world has to be changed immediately and I don’t agree with that. None of us were taught that way growing up it’s always like you build your house at first then you do a good job at work community state nation in the world, so like over here in the good old US of a I mean this is how I would start it. I just googled the hottest states to receive the most sunlight and the top 10 and so we want to bring a change so you gotta start somewhere and so you just really aim to bring solar power to those 10 states and then you can up the sales of electric vehicles in those 10th St. states cause that’s where they’re going to prosper but you leave the other states alone because they’re windy rainy and the weather just doesn’t permit it cording to the stats but even doing so you’re going to bring your numbers down greatly but it’s not goal zero so any of you even except it seems like this idea you would really except because it’s cool zero or nothing .

It seems now come in to the inequality between the poor and the rich, between the developed countries and the developing countries claiming that who is responsible for climate change. As a poor people in developing country I see it's very unfair, and I think the other people like me thinks the same too. If you can solve this problem then we can improve climate change.

I have some ideas how to speed up the process of a transition from fossil fuels…
Maybe if each and every country could prepare an:
🕊 extremely ambitious
🕊 yet still realistic
🕊 plan of the green transformation
(with the specialists, engeneers and other smart people… in a month for example…)
And then each country would present its plan to others on some kind of a public conference such as COP…
(There could be some time to compare the plans, talk about the sollutions and share the ideas between the international experts…)
After that each country would present a modyfied, extremely ambitious yet still realistic plan to the public after lets say 2 weeks…
(With a special emphasise of how the rich countries could help and support the poor ones, that are especially voulnerable to the climate change…)
Than the modyfied plans would be presented once again…
And after that the COP alike conferences could be repeated regularly, for example once in 3 months…
In order to monitor and assess the progress, solve the specific problems, make further modifications and share the sollutions…
(and also to educate people, to implement the right daily routines, such as recycling and ways to save water, to find the sollutions for preserving nature and to get funds needed to help the poor countries to adapt to the climate change effects…)
If we all work together in repeating cycles, on public conferences and other meetings, sharing the ideas, talking and cooperating, we could actually solve most of the world's serious problems… 🙂 🙏🙏🙏

Dear Prince Charles, Once upon a time, on 11th September 2004 to be exact, a Gran and Granddad were driving back from babysitting their grandchildren when all of a sudden Gran shouted: "WATCH OUT". Granddad was not looking where he was going and nearly crashed the van they were in. Granddad said he was "Sorry, and that he was put off his driving by something that caught his eye up in the sky" Granny looked up into the sky and asked "What is that?" Granddad stopped the van, and they both got out to look. "WOW," said Gran "WOW," said Granddad They were looking at a spaceship, huge, gigantic. Granddad said. "I could hit that with a catapult if I had one" Gran said. "Why doesn't it make a sound? Why are there small thundery clouds rushing inside it?" They watched the spacecraft for over Eight minutes, then it started to move slowly at first, then quite speedily. They jumped back in their van and followed it up the road till it went out of sight towards London. They never saw anyone, nor did they see any traffic pass them at that time. Gran and Granddad told their children and friends what they had seen, and most smiled and laughed at their story, mainly because the area in question has hundreds of cameras close by. If Gran and Granddad's story were true, then it would have surely been seen. Eleven years later on the anniversary of the sighting Granddad woke up early and told Gran he was going to visit the place at the exact time where they had seen the spaceship. Gran said, "Yes, go see if there's anything different?" Wow! He came back saying that the most unusual thing happened. This time there were planes in the sky, maybe four or five planes that he could see at any one time? He told Gran he saw crows flying and geese too, making sounds, Also Granddad counted the seconds for the next vehicle to pass by and could only reach 40 or so seconds then another vehicle would pass? Gran asked Granddad "What does this all mean?" Granddad said, "It means that the spaceship never got caught on cameras because it was speeding in some type of time tunnel,- a Bubble of some kind? and we both traveled in this phenomenon somehow?" "So why was the spaceship there?" said Gran, "So why were we allowed to see it? Was it the future? was it today's technology? Was the thundery rushing clouds on the inside of the Spaceship its camouflage or could it be how it was fuelled?" They have the exact time, the exact place. Surely this spaceship the size of Wembley Stadium would have left a trail somewhere? Somewhere on some radiation counters? Radar? Spectrometers?Gravitational Readings? Gran said, "All they need to do is investigate to find the answers?" Granddad sobbed and told Gran "That because of the size of the spaceship and no camera evidence, there was no way that this story would ever be believed? O2 level effected , small percent but it’s accounted for in semi closed earth atmosphere , so that o2 comes from somethings life account .
Factor in methane 30 x worse than co2 , its amounts to 2 trillion tonnes new co2 , we’ve blown way past 2 degrees folks,
