NOTE: Sorry for the slightly dodgy audio in this video. I only noticed at 330am that one of the VO takes had only recorded on my laptop mic rather than from my microphone. If I was going to get the video done in time without waking anyone up I had to just press ahead with the worse audio and patch things together the best I could. Sorry again! – Jack

He should resign for his stupid apology. Testing your eye sight by driving for 30 mins. I wouldn't let a man like that look after my cat and he's the one pulling Boris strings

I reckon Cummings leaked his own misdoings. Why? Because by pissing people off they'll see it as a free reign to do what they like to. This plays right into the hands of Scummings agenda, something he's wanted from the start. Herd immunity. This govt has blood on their hands.

More idiots making the assumption that Barnard Castle is a tourist attraction and not the name of a town. Furthermore, nobody accused Dominic Cummings of 'taking advantage of his status' as you have here. In fact, his 'status' has put him in far more hot water over this incident than if he had no status. If he was Joe Bloggs, no one would care. This aside, the MSM hate this man because 1) he shows them the contempt they deserve as unelected self-appointed representatives of the people, rather than the objective reporters that they should be and 2) he is Mr Brexit.

Cummings could stay a brexit advisor but he can't be a coronavirus adviser. Firing people is not part of the sanction put by the government for breaking the lock down. Why should we make an exception for Cummings ? He should be fined only.

The trip up to Durham I find I am OK with, for his family, the trip to the castle on his wife's birthday to test his eyesight, is the part I cannot get, even that not a reason to sack him, but I think he did need to be more contrite, as he did not come across well.

Boris and his Brexit chaos government have to resign. 36000 British people are dead – who is responsible? Not to mention here the Economy disaster that young British generations will pay the price. We can not have both the corona war and the Brexit war – this is a two-front war. The UK can't survive this – no country can survive a two-front war. Stop this now! Stop the clowns stop the Brexit and stop the virus! Stop Clowns-Brexit-Virus! Stop CBV!

This wasn’t even a big deal, the media made it out to be way worse and straight up lied about certain things. This was nothing more than a witch hunt with an underlying agenda.

my mother died on 8th April and because of the lock down I couldn't attend her funeral. It really makes me mad that this pillock can do what he likes whilst the rest of us have to follow the rules.

So driving long distances when ill is probably a bad idea for a kick off. And then the whole notion that Cummings's sister should risk infection by looking after their son is also questionable. They obviously should have simply stayed put and kept in close contact with health care professionals. Just like everybody else.

  20. @graveeking

I like how one of the big defenses is 'Oh but it's for his wife and child!', not 'his loved ones' – so my autistic, depressed boyfriend who I haven't seen in months isn't good enough for these rules- sorry, GUIDELINES, to be broken? BUT if his parents were worried about him (and they are) they could go take him up to Edinburgh Castle for a nice holiday?
What about my sweet on granma who lives on her own? I guess she isn't good enough for the rules either unless I decide to go adopt a child and marry someone first – I have no right to see her!

Honestly? If they want to make these the rules then whatever – they can go for it. But then they've got to openly admit they failed to explain the rules properly, and not just for a brief period – but these months of painful lockdown and it was a colossal failure on their part explaining them properly.
