A.I. facial recognition tool to detect adult migrants posing as children
An AI facial recognition tool that aims to detect adult migrants posing as children will be deployed at the UK’s borders next year.
The software will estimate a person’s age by analysing photographs of them taken at the border.
The Home Office says the technology will make it easier to identify adult migrants “attempting to game the system”, after initial testing indicated “promising performance and accuracy”.
But Human Rights Watch urged the government to scrap the scheme, describing it as “unproven technology” that will undermine the protections vulnerable children are entitled to.

People do not want them, for the most part because government has not kept it’s side of the bargain with automakers. Where are the charging stations? We all know why because another thing they have failed at is energy policy.

Ridiculous, we are supposed to live in a democracy, there is no where near the infrastructure in the country for it nor are the batteries up to a decent capacity, it’s time to be voted out for these socialist/communist government officials

I’m retired and enjoying retirement after 44 years in industry. I tow a caravan, enjoy holidays in UK and EU .Contributing to the economy. Purchasing a tow vehicle, and caravan. Now being force soon to a EV as a tow vehicle will be totally impractical for our leisure requirements. The infrastructure for charging is inadequate, when it is adequate the national grid won’t cope. Is this just a ploy to just reduce the No of vehicles on the road. Now think of that situation, less cars, no proper tow vehicles, reduced caravan/motorhome sales, reduced income to the country, loss of jobs, MORE TAXES.

Govmt again giving our money away to companies that are the main customers for EVs. 40 million cars and vans at the rate of 500,000 a year will take 80years. What a load of rubbish is this govmt. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IS IT ?

I drove to Scotland Dundee and back from Aylesbury last week in a hybrid Mazda cx60 and had to fill up tank 3 times to coincide with 15 minute comfort and eating breaks 435 miles each way. All very straightforward but a constant phaff having to regenerate electric to gain 34 miles us it in Ev and repeat.
I see Mazda just released inline 6 cylinder diesel and after 2 yrs I will be looking to change back to diesel as even a hybrid is a backward step. Forget full EV it’s a stupid strategy going to bankrupt UK and decimate the car industry

January 4, 2024 at 5:07 pm
40 million cars and vans in uk. Even at 1 million a year it would take 40 years. @300,000 a year it would take 120 years. Boilers to heat pumps the same, and 10 million old houses with solid walls. Plus another 10 million in need of improved energy performance.
Hydrogen will require a totally new network. Also our elec grid will need to totally renewed This will cost £4 trillion ,double our debt and all will need to be borrowed cause we ain’t got any money.

There's a simple answer do not buy any cars and watch the Government squirm when they don't receive any revenue/tax. Better still vote for a party that doesn't pull these kinds of stunts. Electric vehicles are environmentally dirty compared to ICE vehicles and they are impractical practical. There's no infrastructure to support their users or in fact generating capacity. It was only a few months ago that we were preparing for blackouts

Just silly. Much like "Go to work on an egg" and 'Drink a pinta milk aday'.
It is up the car buying public to buy what they want. If it is non electric so what? If there are no oil burners use your cash to talk sense and don't buy anything you don't want. Do the really "Green thing" and keep your car longer. It's not going to drop to bits at 50,000 + 1 miles.

The absolute antithesis of “If you build it they will come”… righto, course they are and that is why you are having to force them with laws it is so much better than ICE.
A line by the way arguably from the film with an appropriate title for Net Zero timeframes… “Field of Dreams”, yeah, keep dreaming. Parliament of nightmares would be more even appropriate these days.
