Cyber Attack: Ransomware causing chaos globally – BBC News
Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Is this AI’s moment of truth? | BBC News
A year ago, artificial intelligence was being sold as something close to science fiction — a technology that could transform society, cure disease, even reshape the global economy.
Today, the tone is changing. The companies leading the revolution are racing to the stock market — chasing billions in investment — while quietly confronting a much harder reality: AI is expensive, unpredictable, and far from profitable.
At the same time, some of the very people building this technology are warning we may be going too fast — even calling for a global pause.
And beyond Silicon Valley, a different story is emerging: growing public anxiety, political backlash, and the rise of what some are calling anti-AI populism.
So is AI entering its most pivotal moment yet — caught between financial pressure, technological risk, and political resistance?
AI Decoded Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Financial Times AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, Thematic Strategist at Deutsche Bank Research Adrian Cox and Richard Coffin, Host of popular investing podcast ‘ The Plain Bagel’.

5:45 I guess most people in the comments forgot about this part. It’s very scary how so many deny science. Also I think the BBC has forgotten that the has been dimming for years now yet Earth keeps warming. In fact 2020 was the bottom of the solar cycle and was still tied for the hottest year ever.
But yes GSM could make colder winters in Europe by reflecting the jet stream south and causing warmth in the Arctic but that’s also something you’d get from a Sudden Stratospheric Warming or if global warming causes rapid warming of the arctic region weakening the jet stream.
It’s also funny how climate “skeptics” say it’s all fear mongering yet fear monger about this lol

Hmmm, so if the sun is wearing down, it clearly had a distinct starting point. If you calculate the rate at which the sun is giving off less and less light, it would've burned out by now if evolution's billions of years were true. It's a lie, folks. The earth is not billions of years old. It didn't magically "bang" into existence, defying science by creating order out of chaos (it doesn't work that way). Evolution is a lie. Yahweh is our Creator God.

Decline in surface solar activity is due to changes within the sun. We understand the cause. It's due to double magnetic cycles which interfere or reinforce with each other. It will last another 33 years: 3 short solar cycles. We just began the first cycle. Sun has both short term (11 year) and long term cycles (up to 2100 years). The cycle we're about to witness is an approximate 400 year solar cycle. Maunder minimum conditions cause climate change. We can get both warmer and colder weather. Climate conditions of 17th century were associated with the premature death of one third of earth's population. Be afraid, be very afraid.
It's not surprising we're just hearing about this as it descends on us. BBC are censoring climate news and calling everyone who doesn't champion man-made climate change a "denier". So scientists who studied this solar effect are basically banned from BBC. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_yqIj38UmY

The BBC, as usual, has it wrong. When the sun's magnetic field drops off, cosmic trays entering the solar system increase and so the earth will have more brilliant auroras not less.
@BigKev311
January 2, 2024 at 6:05 pm
They are back peddling on their global warming narrative. We are in a Grand Solar minimum. This is exactly on schedule with the sun's cycles. They have known these cycles for a long time. Co2 has almost 0 effect on climate. Our climate is 100 percent driven by the sun regardless of man's impact. These cycles of warming and cooling have always occured.

I had a nightmare that the sun sent a solar flare to kill earth and all the power cut off in the world and a giant line of orange could be seen everywhere on earth it would get brighter and brighter until nothing.
I woke up in a panic to feel heat on my face in the nightmare i looked up and saw a bright light getting closer and closer until i was burnt along with everyone else in the world.

This is nonsensical sensationalism.
First the Little Ice age preceded the Maunder Minimum by 300 years and went on 100 year after it
The frost fairs only happened a few times during the Maunder minimum, most happened outside that period.
The coldest part of the LIA preceded the Maunder minimum. Global temperatures warmed (slightly) during this period.
