UK brain cancer DNA research hopes to speed up diagnosis – BBC News

Published

on

More than 200 brain tumour patients at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, England, are to have the entire genetic code of their cancer sequenced.

The Minderoo Precision Brain Tumour Programme aims to speed up diagnosis and help personalise treatment for patients with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.

It’s hoped it may ultimately lead to new targeted treatments which extend survival.

How long can you use a cell phone before getting a brain tumor?
There does appear to be some evidence that more than 10 years of cell phone use may increase the risk of brain tumors.

So basically, private medicine is the answer to more complex diseases or cancers, because they are profit based and have the capital for more advanced R&D and have personal stake in advancing medicine as far as they can to better not only their patients, but their bottom line as well.

    Чи є тут українці?
Hi is there any Ukraine people and US Supporters out there?
    ***************⬇️⬇️⬇️
*Didn't the Ukrainian people drive this self-righteous clown away? Putin is the one who started the war. Although we blame war, Russia has its own position and reasons, because Russia is under military threat from NATO, but it is Zelensky the clown who destroys Ukraine. He doesn't understand economics or politics. This guy knows nothing and has a big mouth. He made war happen when it could have been avoided. Instead of trying to negotiate to stop the war in the early days of Russia's military campaign, he displayed an attitude that seemed to treat negotiation as children's play. He is like a naive clown who thinks he can get the support of the US and NATO. He can defeat Russia himself, he dreams that he can become a great man who fights Russia! He foolishly obeyed and cooperated with the instructions of the US side, instead of seeking peace talks, he turned Ukraine into his own stage and let the war deteriorate step by step. To this day, the clown is still working with the United States, continuing to expand the war indefinitely, and he still feels good about himself. Hold your own world tour hero speech and beg the world for weapons to keep fighting! Clowns play great men recklessly on stage, while thousands of Ukrainians cry for their loved ones who died in battle! The Ukrainian people should not put all the blame on Russia, they have to look at the whole situation from a different angle! Safeguarding the sovereignty of one's own country is the responsibility of a country's president, but the greatest responsibility of a country's leader is to avoid plunging the country into war, and what makes people angry is that his constant play of individualism has caused the war in Ukraine to continue unabated. ! This clown actually recruited militiamen in the name of defending the country, taught the people to make oil bombs, and encouraged them to fight despite the disparity in strength. He sold Ukraine to the United States, hoping the United States will help him clean up! Allow me to introduce the United States: a shameless country that keeps spreading rumors and provoking war, America = shameless low-end creatures, like vile creatures living in a ditch, thieves headed by a group of ugly creatures, they have no shame with false human rights and Democracy is used as an excuse to sanction and occupy the sovereign assets of other countries. A low-end country that has truly committed countless genocides and human rights oppression, a country that is arrogant but behaves extremely low-end.
Please pass my words to Zelensky and the U.S. government, especially U.S. President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken who have just spoken out about human rights in India.

My 13-year old niece was recently diagnosed. In order to remove the whole tumour her ability to walk had to be sacrificed. Who knows how long before it returns, which apparently it nearly always does. The problem with this lady's proposal is that if any of the outlying treatments really worked, they would be mainstreamed ASAP. But unfortunately they often do very little. But worth a try.

Cyber Attack: Ransomware causing chaos globally – BBC News

Published

Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Is this AI’s moment of truth? | BBC News

Published

on

A year ago, artificial intelligence was being sold as something close to science fiction — a technology that could transform society, cure disease, even reshape the global economy.

Today, the tone is changing. The companies leading the revolution are racing to the stock market — chasing billions in investment — while quietly confronting a much harder reality: AI is expensive, unpredictable, and far from profitable.

At the same time, some of the very people building this technology are warning we may be going too fast — even calling for a global pause.
And beyond Silicon Valley, a different story is emerging: growing public anxiety, political backlash, and the rise of what some are calling anti-AI populism.

So is AI entering its most pivotal moment yet — caught between financial pressure, technological risk, and political resistance?

AI Decoded Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Financial Times AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, Thematic Strategist at Deutsche Bank Research Adrian Cox and Richard Coffin, Host of popular investing podcast ‘ The Plain Bagel’.
