Southern Ukraine hit by strikes from both sides of war – BBC News
Southern Ukraine has been hit by strikes from both sides in the war, with Russia launching drones at Odesa and Ukraine fighting back in Melitopol.
The Ukrainian army said it shot down 10 drones on Saturday but another five had hit energy facilities, leaving some 1.5 million people without power.
Later on, the exiled mayor of Melitopol said a Ukrainian strike had been carried out on the Russia-held city.
Images shared by a Moscow-installed official there showed a big fire.
Russia’s drone attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odesa saw Moscow fire Iran-made drones at key infrastructure, Ukrainian officials said.

US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his support for a united Ireland.
He’s on day two of a visit, which he is spending at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, County Clare, for the Irish Open.
On Saturday, Trump told reporters he would love to see a united Ireland while at a meeting with the Taoiseach (Irish PM) Micheál Martin in Dublin.
Speaking on Sunday at his Doonbeg golf resort, he said it would be natural to put Ireland and Northern Ireland “together”.
He spoke to reporters after watching the tournament leader Irish golfer Shane Lowry tee off.

Russia hits train in Ukraine after Boris Johnson, top European officials leave station | BBC News
A Russian drone has hit a train near the Ukraine-Poland border shortly after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and top European security officials had passed through.
No casualties were reported after the strike at Yahodyn, which hit the train’s engine. All the passengers had been evacuated, Ukrainian authorities said.
Johnson and other European national security advisers, including the UK’s Jonathan Powell, had passed along the same line on a different train on their way back from a conference in Kyiv.
Russia said it had struck “railway infrastructure” in western Ukraine, but Ukraine’s state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia said that “quite possibly, the target of this drone could have been the diplomatic train”.
