what really happened simply the poor paid for the price rise of the rich simple.

As we see now taxes are too low, as are wages. If we turn to my homeland, Denmark, high taxes and high wages make the big corp suffer, not common folk. Tax = better police, hospital, schools, fire fighters, and, almost, an endless source of other possibilities.

Nonsense!!! We’ve got £350 million EXTRA a week for the NHS ! ! It said so on the side of the bus. 🤥

I earn £1700 p/m not a lot, I pay £200 of that towards taxes, I had to actually call up payroll and ask why they're robbing me, turns out they're not, it's my fucking NI taxes. Finally found a job after a year of being unemployed from covid, now being taxed out of the ass because everyone got to live in cushy furlough times whilst I lived off universal credit struggling to keep up with bills and repayments. What a time to be alive.. just kidding I'd rather be dead ( oh also I have a degree in accounting which was pretty much worthless during the pandemic)

  7. @bluegoose7832

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

I work in the civil service and our pay has been frozen since 2009, meaning that our pay has stayed the same in over a decade. Cost of living goes up, but our earnings stay bordering on minimum wage at this point, when in 2009 it was a well paid job.

another tax rise just means that me and my colleagues who literally work for the government are being shafted again

I couldn't imagine voting this way to people I don't know. Let alone my children and grandchildren.

The only reason the Tories keep in power is because they promise everyone, especially multinational corporations, that no one has to pay taxes while at the same time cutting back funding and privatising anything they can get their hands on.

And wasn't it Thatcher's dream that everyone should own a home so that could sell it when they needed health care?

    This is an interesting turnaround.

I wonder if they are trying to introduce some kind of statutory health insurance scheme like in Germany. Or is this an attempt at a free market style system like in Singapore where government funding only makes up one fourth of health care?

  15. @paulhopkins3242

Each generation should pay for itself. I'm not sure how the UK does it but the way the US social security is SUPPOSED to work is that the social security tax gets saved and then redistributed back once the workers reach old age.

  20. @simonjlkoreshoff3426

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

Should tax wealth not income. And national insurance is regressive.

The Tories have always done this and always will do in the future. Does not matter how many low class people vote for their Brexit. They will never change that core principle. They are the party of the wealthy Landowners, Landlords and Homeowners. Always will be. Working class are stupid for thinking that would ever change if they start supporting Boris.

  24. @pavelimani

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

It is most fair for everyone to pay their own care. The seniors have a lifetime of savings. Use it. If they do not have savings, that is because they spent it all when they were young, and they should suffer the consequences of their own financial indiscretion.

As a millennial it’s hard to not have resentment towards the boomers. Free education, much cheaper housing. Let’s be honest with each other there will be no state pension when we retire or the age limit will be raised so high none of us will live to see it

  26. @JimothyTheGreen

  29. @pavelimani

  32. @TheAcad3mic

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

    Here's what you do.

You save money. You get your parents or your inlaws to sell up and then you and them club in to buy a big house with land in YOUR name. They shell out for home improvements, materials, goods and whatnot and you turn a bit of the yard into a proper nice granny annexe.

You and your Mrs are now the owners of a new home, your elderly parents live with you. you're now a caregiver and they now have no money or assets BUT they do have you giving them full live-in care whenever they want with daily life surrounded by family and you get a big house that you could never have afforded in your lifetime, and since they don't have much money and you're a live in carer you're all entitled to some extra benefit money to keep things floating nicely along, and you have the kind of generational housing situation that people had for centuries before the modern world fucked up home ownership and family life in the name of endless consumerism.

  33. @kulfreestyler

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

Boris should just fk off for causing immense loss with his useless app and now he wants increase what? Man really needs ….. 🤯🔫

  34. @DoctorX149

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

Conservatives are actually willing to raise taxes for their agenda, unlike American Republicans… Everything in Britain seems better, even the party I don't like

Why the don’t cut the dammmn salary or other nonsense spend to help NHS and SC ! And as young people we can’t even Afford to buy a house and save as much we like and this toris come to ingrese NI…don’t forget to mention priti Patel spending like a crazy b** on eyebrows

  38. @willieckaslike

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

NHS contributions up by 1,5% ! Why? This excuse for a Government has already let 600 former NHS contracts to Virgincare ALONE worth 2 BILLION Pounds ! So with less NHS, we are expected to pay more. How exactly does that work then?

  39. @SiriusXAim

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

Btw it's not 1.25%, it's 10%. going from 12 to 13.25 is 1.25 points, not percentage. That's just a mathematical lie the press and conservatives used to make the pill easier to swollow.

  40. @cormackeenan8175

    January 1, 2024 at 4:03 pm

That tax rise wasn’t mention on the side of Johnson PM big red bus, it’s all covid’s fault sir.

During Burnham’s long political career in and out of Westminster, it’s been difficult to pin his ideology down firmly on either the left or the right of the Labour Party. So in this video, we take a look at why he may not be as left wing as some hoped.
