G20 joint declaration breakthrough despite deep divisions – BBC News

Published

on

G20 president India says a consensus has been reached on the joint declaration.

The agreement talks about human suffering in Ukraine, but does not directly condemn Russia.

Ukraine’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Oleg Nikolenko, said the G20 had “nothing to be proud of”.

Earlier in the day, the African Union was invited to join as a permanent member of the G20.

African Union joining the G20 seem to be a hindrance to progress. How is that? 🧐

Al,l the nations should have condemned Russia to the full extent and stated Russia by name! By not doing so, they gave Russia the green light for their invasion and the next one as well! Unfortunately, by not doing so, reduced the significance of everything else they did!
It is most unfortunate Putin/Russia will get away with their invasion, even in the G20!

What happens if the UK goes to war? Where do we get steel to build war machines, where do we get pharmaceuticals to cure the sick, where do we get energy to power the country? Everything is imported. All they need to do is cut the supply off.!!!!!! We employ public school educated diplomats, well let them negotiate long lasting peace. Gods vengeance is near.

I am not in favour of WAR, and I condemn what Russia is doing BUT I am very happy with the way India is backing up Russia in its own small ways because Russia helped India when the world chose to side with a dictatorial regime in Pakistan, you chose the wrong side WEST and now don't cry. See the diplomacy at play and admire it.

The Japanese media have reported that the G20 joint declaration was published without Japan’s consent. Japanese officials were surprised to know Modi announced a common statement was agreed. This is kind of rigged, isn’t it? This is not a joint declaration but India’s declaration.

Why isn’t AI working for your company? | BBC News

Published

on

In this episode AI Decoded asks whether the AI revolution is delivering on its promises.

Companies and organisations are spending vast sums on artificial intelligence after being promised AI will transform productivity, improve efficiency and unlock entirely new ways of working.

Yet a growing number of investors and analysts are asking a simple question: where’s the proof?

Research suggests only a small percentage of enterprise AI projects are producing measurable value. Businesses have bought the software, invested in licences and launched pilot projects, but many are still struggling to turn that investment into meaningful results.

So is AI failing to live up to expectations? Or are companies simply approaching adoption the wrong way

Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Peter Grant CEO of GoWeaver AI, James Kuht founder of Pair AI and co-host and author of Technology Is Not Neutral, Dr Stephanie Hare.

How Lindsey Graham shaped Trump’s wars | The Global Story

Published

on

Senator Lindsey Graham spent decades as one of Washington’s most prominent foreign policy hawks – a fierce opponent of Russia, relentless advocate for Israel and supporter of Iranian regime change.

Graham’s funeral this week drew the likes of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and both men took the opportunity to meet with Donald Trump in an effort to keep the president invested in the wars that both their countries are fighting.

On today’s episode, we speak to the BBC’s Washington Correspondent Daniel Bush and documentary filmmaker Alex Holder, who has rare access to Lindsey Graham to unpack how the late senator helped shape Trump’s foreign policy approach.
