Ancient rock carvings discovered in Iraq – BBC News
Archaeologists have unearthed 2,700-year-old rock carvings in Iraq.
An excavation team had been working to reconstruct the ancient Mashki Gate, which Islamic State (IS) militants destroyed in 2016.
The eight marble relics show finely chiselled war scenes, grape vines and palm trees and date back to the Assyrian King Sennacherib, who ruled the ancient city of Nineveh from 705 to 681 BC.
The archaeologists are working to restore the Mashki Gate site to how it was before IS bulldozed it.

AI can always be controlled, the president of encrypted messaging app Signal has told the BBC.
Meredith Whittaker said fears that AI could become conscious and take over were “not anchored in science and evidence”, warning instead about the dangers of using the technology in military decision-making.
The former Google employee said AI could “supercharge mistakes” and reflected on her role in opposing the company’s involvement in a US military drone surveillance project.
Speaking to the BBC Global Women, Whittaker also questioned who gets to shape the future of AI, criticised the concentration of power in Silicon Valley and explained why Signal would leave a country rather than compromise its users’ privacy.

Developer Moonshot is conducting an internal review after researchers were able to persuade two of its popular Kimi models to tell them how to make biological weapons and carry out assassinations.
Mindgard, which tests the security of AI systems, told the BBC it discovered in July that Kimi K2.6 and K3 Swarm could evade safety limits put in place by developers.
It arose during a process called “jailbreaking”, where researchers use a series of complex instructions to see if AI tools ignore guardrails – which Mindgard said should have stopped Kimi from discussing concerning topics.
Moonshot told the BBC it welcomed third-party input “as a key pillar for building better and safer AI”.

And one of the carving is of a king holding a bow and a moneky sits in front of him with both hand folded in namaste posture. That rock painting was supposed to be 4500 year old says archeologists.

The injustice in the name of religion is at such a level it is inconceivable. Yet, from those ashes centuries old carvings emerge. Just the nations gone since millennia having been destroyed yet again by man's inhumanity to man over and over again are emerging for posterity to wonder.

I don't think it would be wrong for archeologists to rebuild the arched gate that is destroyed.
They know exactly what it looked like so it would be a true reconstruction .
It wouldn't be something they invented.
