Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen testifies at hush-money trial | BBC News
Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen is testifying at a New York court in the ex-president’s historic hush-money trial.
Mr Cohen alleges that the former president told him to be prepared for “a lot of women” who could come forward when he entered the presidential race.
It’s alleged that Mr Cohen paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 (£104,300) to stay quiet about claims that she and Mr Trump had sex in 2006.
Mr Trump is accused of trying to cover up the payments he made to reimburse Mr Cohen by fraudulently recording them in his business records.
Mr Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal the payment and denies any sexual encounter with Stormy Daniels.

Holidaymakers facing travel disruption as flights cancelled at UK airports – BBC News
Britain’s Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has told airlines to stop selling tickets for flights they cannot staff, after a series of flight cancellations left tourists struggling to get away on holiday.
Airlines including EasyJet and Tui were among those to make cancellations, although most customers will have been given advance notice.
Airports across Europe have struggled to cope with the rebound in demand following Covid lockdowns.
British airports are facing a particularly difficult week because of school holidays, combined with two extra days off for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Airlines UK, which represents the major British airlines, said the “vast majority” of flights would be operating as scheduled.

New Caldeonia riots trigger state of emergency in territory as French police arrive | BBC News
Hundreds of French police reinforcements have arrived in New Caledonia amid ongoing riots in the Pacific Ocean territory which have left five people dead.
A state of emergency on the islands has now been triggered as the reinforcements look to “regain control”, according to French High Commissioner Louis Le Franc.
The unrest erupted this week after lawmakers in Paris backed and approved changes to voting rolls that the indigenous population say will dilute their political influence.
Hundreds of people have been injured, and officials say around 200 people have been arrested so far.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei has denied that it is ordinary Argentines who are paying for his radical austerity measures.
