The Holocaust survivor sharing her story on TikTok – BBC Newsnight
To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, Holocaust survivor Lily Ebert – who was deported to Auschwitz aged 20 – shares her story alongside her great-grandson Dov Forman. Please subscribe HERE http://bit.ly/1rbfUog
As those able to give first hand testimony of the Holocaust dwindle, their stories have become more precious.
Lily Ebert, 98, was 20 years-old when she and her family were taken to Auschwitz aboard one of the last trains to enter the camp in 1944.
Lily survived, but her parents and some of her siblings were murdered.
She shares her story alongside her great-grandson Dov Forman who helped her to set up a TikTok account to educate the younger generation.
January 27 marks Holocaust Memorial Day, where we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, and the millions of people killed under Nazi persecution of other groups, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News
The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

Donald Trump scraps threat of 20% fee on Strait of Hormuz cargo | BBC News
President Donald Trump has reversed his threat of a 20% fee on all Strait of Hormuz cargo shipping, as the US battles to break Iran’s hold on the waterway.
He said the toll would be replaced by trade and investment deals with Gulf states, just hours before the US resumes a blockade of Iranian ports.
It follows renewed strikes between the US and Iran, which triggered a sharp rise in oil prices as tanker traffic through the Strait has virtually stalled.

many Holocaust survivors had a stolen childhood. They lived their entire childhood in darkness and uncertainty of whether or not they will live on. I very much felt bad of them but at the same time have deep respect for them.

I’m watching the boy in the striped pjs and I know it’s inaccurate 0:12 but it’s brief this abuse actually happened to Jews by nazis and it hurts it’s so upsetting they were just innocent people and the fact children were treated so horribly and even killed if they couldn’t do work is so upsetting I didn’t take history in school but I wish I did sm because although this was in the past this was very much real and some people still have minds that are racist, ‘nazi like’?? etc I am 0% educated on wars etc and history even of my own country but I’m so fed up with the democides of other people because of greedy people in power and the abuse of people from others because how they look or who they love
That paragraph was probably a mess
