Japanese closed factories and left UK after BREXIT and threaten UK government for any harm from BREXIT while S Korea made free trade agreement with UK after BREXIT to aid UK. Japanese also stopped building UK nuclear power project after running over the fund limit and left after UK refused to pay more than what they agreed on contract. Japan did same thing with Turkish nuclear power project and stopped from construction when Turkish government refused to pay more than what they agreed on in contract. Now those projects left by Japanese will cost more due to starting over because they left garbage at the site. UK rail system built by Japan is also causing design problems but Japan is refusing to fix them like they did with Egypt during blocking Suez Canal which cost billions in damage but Japanese company which built problem ship refuse to pay compensation for Egypt and companies effected by blocking Suez canal. Japan is #2 China of Asia don't take care of their mistake and still drag war crimes committed during WW2.

I love the screechers in the comments 'B-B-BUT IT'S NOT SIGNED YET IT'S ALL JUST THEORETICAL'
Well now it is signed, the UK is succeeding and, despite being British, you don't want to see it succeed
I know I'm on the right side when remainers openly enjoy watching the UK fail at things and hate to see it succeed, I don't know how you cared so much about brexit when you all clearly hate your country anyway, I remember the English people who were happy when we eventually were no longer in the world cup, utter morons
The UK is doing amazing and the brexiteers were right, maybe that's why you want the UK to fail, you'd rather see people lose their jobs than be proven wrong

This is just a step for Japan to enter into an alliance again that Japan has been eager ,,,,, against several countries around Japan. I think Japan would like to cooperate with UK ( a capital nation n has loyal family n a boss of USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA.other countries in Africa where have a lot of natural resourses ) for human right issues n economic n security reasons since japan has been doubting USA's power or political policy. (USA is the only one nation that form a military alliance with Japan right now after WW2)

Well explained. How the UK remains a gateway to Europe defeats me. Rules of origin will prevent Japan manufacturers to use the ploy of setting up manufacturing units in UK and claim more that 50% of their products are of EU origin, whether there is a deal or not. Haulage will be subject to checks at border points even in the best case scenario. If it is a gateway it will be a rather narrow one. No wonder Nissan and Toyota are expecting the UK government to pay for the loss in profits due to EU import tariffs on vehicles. We will see.
@sentra6661
December 30, 2023 at 6:50 am
When you can't tell right from wrong, you're done. Remember that UK is a part of Europe, not Europe a part of UK. Uk need just few months of no trade with Europe to wake up and see reality!

she's full of shit, what a surprise…
the tea isn't grown in the UK, despite the UK having some small local tea production the cost of it is too expensive and thus is only sold as gifts and souvenirs.
"more cheese then the french" je ne crois pas que sais vrais, unless she count chedar nr 1, chendar nr2, chedar mix of 1 and 2 as 4 different cheese then I don't think they are any where close to France.
I think the major win was actually free trade of "financial" and "tech", the banks are going to love having easy access to Asia without going past the eyes of the EU, while tech is going to exploit the Asian labor to sell stuff "designed in the UK"
@user-zi7bh8uk8c
December 30, 2023 at 6:50 am
it's obvious that the UK should tie up with Japan rather than untrustworthy China
@ruud9761
December 30, 2023 at 6:50 am
But don't the France export like 3-4 times more cheese in value? A bit weird to flex on variety when your exports are still less. And the Dutch and Germans export even more than the France.

Such pride over selling tea. That will be gone by the end of the year as it comes from UK having an almost monopoly of inporting tea quota as part of the EU membership. But this is one of many special advantages that will go away soon. Then with tolls on british tea so wont there be any reason to usae UK as middlehand.
@cfehunter

tbf even if this is basically the same as the EU deal. It's indicative that we can do just fine without the EU and that other countries will still take us seriously.

One sec. I skimmed through it and there's one thing I am not completely getting. It seems that basically, it seems like the UK is buying cars and selling cheese(sarcastically mean food), this deal seems more favorable to Japan than to the UK(while of course it has mutual benefits), or am I missing something?
What I mean to say is that, since Brexit was hyped to bring extremely favorable trade deals for the UK, this seems to kind of contradict the whole narrative.
