AI could lead to extinction, experts warn – BBC News

Published

on

Artificial intelligence (AI) to the extinction of humanity, – including the heads of OpenAI and Google Deepmind – have warned.

Dozens have supported a statement published on the webpage of the Centre for AI Safety.

“Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war” it reads.

But others in the field have said the fears about AI are overblown.

Out of all things, oblivious things such as fossil fuels, war and hydrogen bombs, the expert for sure are more worried about AI.

If technology advances at an exponential rate, wouldn't it be reasonable the say that by 2030 science will have a solution to climate change, why are Governments panicking?

Or could it be that we have unreleased technology but its about global UN/WHO population control?

We must not protect people from their emotional development challenges.

Do scientists envy the amazing progress made on AI by people developing AI for fun, without writing scientific papers?

The day is drawing near when all of mankind will bow to a new god

A god known as Knowledge that will abolish the archaic belief systems designed for those who fear their own mortality

Science is on the verge of debunking the preposterous concepts of mythological superstitions and enlightening the world to a new age of self-empowerment

    An age of unfathomable possibility

    An age of prosperity

An age of universal advancement and understanding

An age in which the faceless will have to say

    We Told You So

    -The Faceless

The Rings of Saturn are the consequences that surrounds us but what we hold dear to our hearts will keep us safe.

Stop with the fear mongering. They said the same thing about y2k. Or how about all of the technology created during the Industrial Revolution? There was mass hysteria that all of these things would lead to mass unemployment and we still survived. Hell, people even panicked when the calculator was released because so many people thought it would make their jobs obsolete.

Will it cost some people their jobs? Very likely. Will it be the a tidal wave of mass unemployment, starvation, etc? No. Just focus one day at a time and don’t let media fear mongering cause you to lose sleep. Remember, they’re propagandists, not objective journalists

This is true we are going beyond limits of dopamine.

This is gonna end so bad hurting the human kind + dogs and cats and ALL.

As someone who has some expertise myself , this is pretty straightforward, we are on a wrong route.

I’m not talking about GPT, I’m talking about fashion model apps, music generating apps, some say neuralink, some say apple’s new vision pro, first of all, what’s the point of these? Ask this question, and next , ask from yourself, if that’s the point so will it solve my problem? I mean, won’t it distract you too and solve it pretty straight forward or make it worse?.

This is gonna be HUUUGE problem. A HUGE ONE. This is just any grown man or woman could understand.

This is not like smart phone coming out, or cell phone invention.

THEY ALL ARE STRAIGHTFORWARD SOLUTIONS TO OUR PROBLEMS AND THEY REALLY SOLVED THOSE PROBLEMS!

You should always think the opposite of what the official media says. When the official media talks about something “dangerous to be scared about”, most probably its something beneficial for people. Insecure about their looks, they criticize other people to feel better. But when the official media talks about something “good that will improve peoples live” that’s when we have to be careful and wary.

Bill gates wants debate on Apple’s FBI clash – BBC News

Published

on

The founder of Microsoft has told the BBC there should be a debate about the degree to which tech firms co-operate with anti-terrorism investigations. Bill Gates made his comments in response to a question about Apple’s refusal to help the FBI unlock an iPhone used by Syed Rizwan Farook who, along with his wife, killed 14 people and injured 22 others in California last December.
In a separate interview with the Financial Times Mr Gates appeared to go further, contradicting Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook’s suggestion that it would set a “dangerous precedent”.
However, he still did not explicitly say Apple should comply.

How can seaweed provide potential climate change solutions? – BBC News

Published

on

Seaweed is being used to tackle the big climate challenges, but in the UK the industry is still being developed.

It is being used by firms as a solution to capture carbon, reduce methane when used in animal feed and to cut down the use of plastic.

Plastic pollution is having a global impact, with plastics found from the polar sea-ice to the deepest part of the ocean.

UK firm Notpla, that makes packaging from seaweed, has been named as one of the £1m winners of the Earthshot climate prize.

The Prince of Wales is in Singapore ahead of the awards ceremony for his Earthshot prize on Tuesday.
