How Indians crack one of the world’s toughest exams – BBC News
India’s Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams, sat by young men and women who want to join the country’s vast civil service, are seen as one of the toughest tests in the world.
A million candidates apply to appear in the gruelling three-stage exam every year, with less than 1% making it to the second stage.
While preparing for the UPSC, Gamini Singla stayed away from friends, did not go on vacations and avoided family meetings and celebrations for nearly three years.

Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Isn't it actually a waste of time? I am not someone who is against achieving dream jobs. But is the time these people spend for these exams really worth? I think people should go for these exams only if they are truly passionate about the job. It's really foolish to waste the time for this if the purpose is achieving high status or prestige.

Here in Brazil we have an Entrance Exam compared to the IIT/JEE which is the IME and ITA, many students study 3 years beyond High School to prepare for the Exam, it is very competitive. Another observation is that students use Indian, Russian and Peruvian books and teaching materials. Besides, many students take mock tests using the IIT/JEE exam papers.

A lucky few who pass the exam to have the privilege to participate in civil service with rampant corruption, nepotism, bribery, kickbacks, etc. to name a few. Nice system left by the Brits! maybe only the exam is the best part of civil service, downhill from there.

ROTE MEMORIZATION – Indians are good test takers, but lack common sense. The same people who were colonised for 800 years. The country was partitioned due to their short sightedness. Civil service exam of pakistan(css) is tougher than UPSC. There are six compulsory and six optional subjects in Pakistan having mammoth syllabus. While, UPSC has only one optional. Number of attempts for central superior services (css)
in Pakistan are only 3, UPSC has 6

Propagandas again. If these Indians are so smart, what haven't they made any modern inventions ? What technological hardware/software worth mentioning have they made for humanity? Please don't fake out some ancient inventions that can't be reliably verified or proven? The Japanese or Germans or the Chinese have invented the bullet trains capable at 400-600+km/hour and what do these Indians have? The Vande Bharat express, is India fastest train but it only operates at 83km/hour. 😆The 180 km/hour speed is only in theory or testing but not the operating speed when passengers were onboard. Only the operating speed of trains are relevant. 🤭🤣😂

IITJee- Tough Paper but average score of qualified candidates is less. Limited attempts make it tougher.
Civil Services- More than 50% candidates fill the form just for sake of it. Being a multiple format exam, where prelims objective pattern doesnt count, mains is subjective and a major factor for final selection and hence doesn't aptly compare with purely objective Jee and Neet. Also its an exam once u graduate, unlike Jee and Neet.
Neet- Overall difficulty level lesser but average score for selection is quite higher. Happens at 3 levels, pre-medical, pre-pg and pre-superspeciality!
All 3 are unique in their own ways! And those who qualify dont comment here like us!

These exams teach you what discipline and determination is. No offense to anyone, i don't like this competitive exams. I have a thing for creativity. I watched Aspirants and for a moment i daydreamt about being an IAS.
It needs strong determination. So best of luck to everyone preparing for examinations like these. Please remember to give yourself proper rest. Dont burn out.

Question paper wise UPSC is very easy compare to IIT-JEE & NEET, its the just competition that makes it hard….
