9/11: Conspiracy theories still surround the September 11 attacks – BBC News

Published

on

The first 9/11 conspiracy theories appeared on the internet just hours after the attacks, on 11 September 2001, and have grown in size and scope ever since.

Extensive reports by the 9/11 Commission, US government agencies and expert groups have debunked the existence of any hidden conspiracies.

But activist groups in the US and elsewhere, the 9/11 Truth movement, say the facts have been hidden.

Some leading members of the movement have also embraced conspiracies about Covid-19 and vaccines.

Fun fact the CIA invented the phrase “conspiracy theory” in 1967 after they murdered JFK. Says it all really.

    December 28, 2023 at 12:08 pm

Actually, in a roundabout way the US did do 9/11. Having shat on the middle east and south America for decades, it's unsurprising someone would get pissed off about it sooner or later.

Apparrently in the summer of 2001 the leader of the Afghsn northern alliance Ahmad Massoud had warned the West before 9/11 about the danger of terrorist attacks from Afghanistan, but the US didnt take any notice.

Plus, governments quite like things like 9/11 because it allows them to do all sorts of stuff they wouldnt normally be able to do.

I think we can assume that privately the government of Israel are rubbing their hands at the prospect of being able to annihilate Gaza once and for all.

    December 28, 2023 at 12:08 pm

I wouldn’t be surprised if the US did 9/11, considering they did worse beforehand and the whole Watergate scandal in the 70s. I’d be more surprised if the Truthers got off their lazy asses and actually staged a coup against the US government instead of whining on forum boards.

It's too convenient that George Bush was being recorded by a camera in a school at the time of the attack. Like a criminal establishing an alibi.

  19. @zrperro

    December 28, 2023 at 12:08 pm

Isn't it obvious that U.S. (gov) was involved (with one of more allying government) in the planning and execution of 9-11 WTC, and pentagon attacks?
The purpose of this whole thing was to make excuses to INVADE Iraq Afganistan Syria, etc to take control of the petroleum and natural gas.
I remember watching movies in the 1990's about hijackings etc. You can't tell me that hollywood portrayed all these possible scenarios and in real life there were all these weak spots in the security.
It seems to me that the U.S. also manufactured ISIS, who were using USD and U.S. made weapons to pay and arm their soldiers.

All the (U.S.) "Presidents" know what goes on but none of them have the control, they're just puppets.

not usa did that it was a connection of the Woke Left, BBC which is their one of the Woke Left Media outlets reported on WTC 7 23 minutes before it actually collapsed

  22. @johndonwood4305

    December 28, 2023 at 12:08 pm

Well, when the owner of the WTC takes out an insurance policy to cover what seems an unlikely event that actually happens and then gets paid back in billions of dollars… people tend to be suspicious and ask questions.

    1. President Bush stayed in the children's classroom for 7 minutes after being informed of the World Trade Centers. If it had been a foreign act of war, they would have wisked him out to a non-disclosed location. 2. On an average day there would have been 25,000 workers in each tower. There were only 3,000 that day. Why?

Bloody hell, these conspiracy losers have wasted their lives. 😂

Mind you, plenty of religious people go their entire lives believing nonsense (including the terrorist on board the planes), so I guess it’s not that uncommon. 🤦‍♂️

  29. @Steve52344

    December 28, 2023 at 12:08 pm

The big problem with the 9/11 conspiracy theories is that they claim WTC 1 and 2 were "controlled demolitions" when they so obviously were NOT. The "truthers" claim thermite and molten STEEL was found in the debris when they were NOT. The list of misinformation goes on and on, not to mention any of the logistics making sense. Not one conspiracy "fact" has credibility. In over 20 years, and with all the people that would be required for such an inside job, not a single insider has come forth with evidence.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.

Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
