Yesterday Boris Johnson faced a no confidence vote from within his own party and won, but it’s not all good news for the PM. So in this video we outline the path ahead and explain why Boris probably ought to start packing up Number 10.

With Johnson looking increasingly weak, the Conservatives ought to start considering a new leader. So I asked each of our TLDR UK writers to put together their top 5 most likely candidates & then fight it out to see who should take the top job. Watch that full discussion/dispute exclusively on Nebula.

If you want to watch the (heated) discussion then as always the best way to get access to Nebula is through the 'Nebula CuriosityStream' bundle deal

I have friends and family who are Labor voters, but the voted against Corbyn by voting for Johnson. Now that Corbyn is out and reforming their bad ways they have a chance at leadership. I would comfortably wager a bet that many Brits voted for Johnson to vote against Corbyn.

Ukraine continues to suffer in public. Women in their underwear, covered in artificial blood, are running around our streets. They hint that tomorrow the same will happen to the women of our country. When intimidation did not have a significant effect, Ukraine began to offer its grain stocks to everyone, assuring them that otherwise the world would go hungry (Russia will not sell grain in response to sanctions). Then why did the Ukrainian soldiers set fire to the grain and corn? It happened when the Ukrainian military was fleeing from Mariupol! They burned the grain themselves, which was supposed to go to starving countries!

The way I see it, Johnson is clearly aiming to go the distance just like Major did and lead the party to a General Election. In other words, the only way he'll be forced out, is if his own party loses the next GE. For now, it seems the party has chosen to wait until the by-election results come up.

Speaking of which, you guys at TLDR mentioned Wakefield but neglected to mention Tiverton & Honiton. Do you believe the Tories are less likely to lose that seat than Wakefield?

If this channel was as informed on European politics as it pretends to be, it would view things more pragmatically, taking the long view. Much of European politics is cyclic: coalitions form, collapse then reform; leaders leave office then sometimes return. Meanwhile in France the President Macron acts with impunity, others get blamed for pepper spray, batons, tear gas leading to severe injury, blinding and death. Blair served 10 years with the blood of millions on his hands. Boris is a bluffer..and ?

  18. @DandyDNA

    December 27, 2023 at 3:55 am

Every video from this channel for as long as I can remember
    "JOHNSON IS DONE FOR"
    "IS JOHNSON FINALLY FINISHED?"
    "HERE'S HOW JOHNSON IS OVER"
There is a subtle hint that the TLDR staff have slight mental breakdowns daily over Johnson

Im very happy he stayed, so that next general election the tory voters that would have possibly been happy with q change in leadership but are unhappy with boris, will now vote for another party. Hopefully this is the end to tory rule in the UK 🇬🇧

As much as everybody hates Johnson right now, I don't want him to leave anymore. At least for the time being. I'd say, give him a few more months, to see what happens in Ukraine, and reconsider afterwards.

As always this penetrating analysis is SPOT ON! Compared with his several predecessors this PM is regarded with almost as little respect as Prince Andrew is in the Royal Family and wider world. The writing has been on the wall since he came into leadership what a fraud he is. It only remains for informal decision on someone new within a Tory cross section and a graceful exit without too many slings and arrows will be at hand. The highly articulate SNP leader has made that a near certainty on too many occasions without actually bringing an execution axe and mask into the chamber!

It seems pretty much a certainty that Andy Burnham will be the next British prime minister. Exactly when it happens depends on a few factors. We outline some of the reasons an early general election is likely.
