we won't mirror what's happening there? An identical virus will behave differently in Britain because we're british? Or is it allergic to milky tea?

I feel that actively researching, with regard to how to effectively protect oneself, and understand how the virus is contracted is the way forward. If we simply listen to what the government tells us, then we will again find ourselves in a situation like we currently have with brexit.

Oh believe me they're in the delay phase, delay action phase. Fuck me Boris. I get that it's nuanced but the herd immunity idea simply won't work.

    December 26, 2023 at 4:45 pm

The UK government are a bunch of idiots led by a cretin. We need to shut the country down now to halt the spread of the virus. Tomorrow or next week will be too late. The government are clearly more concerned about the economic impact of decisive action than they are about saving people's lives.

containment was extremelly unlikely 3 weeks ago… halfwits….

  13. @TheDarkever

    December 26, 2023 at 4:45 pm

The four phases really make ZERO sense. Why the 'Research' is even a phase? Research everywhere has begun immediately once the virus has been discovered! Also 'Delay' and 'Mitigation' are exactly the same thing. Wow this government sucks more than the one in my country, which is something I say in exceedingly rare occasions!

Many countries are taking tough measures to crack down on the spread of coronavirus, including school closures, an end to mass gatherings and severe travel restrictions. But the UK has adopted relatively modest control measures.
The differences can be partly explained by the fact some of these countries are further into their epidemics. But it's clear the UK has adopted a more nuanced approach.
Computer simulations indicate the UK is in the early stages of its epidemic which is expected to rise sharply in four weeks and peak in 10 and 14 weeks' time.
Sir Patrick Vallance, the UK government's chief scientific adviser, and chief medical officer Prof Chris Whitty have made the judgement call that it is too soon to impose severe restrictions at this stage.
Such restrictions might last several months and risk "self-isolation fatigue", with people leaving their homes just as the epidemic was at its height. The elderly are particularly at risk of developing severe symptoms. But many of them are already isolated. Cutting them off from their communities at this stage, when the risks are still relatively low, would create unnecessary difficulties for them.

The government, and the PM Johnson, are doing a huge mistake underestimating the danger of this pandemic.

They’re gonna be responsible for a lot of troubles and diseases, and lot of British people are gonna pay the price for this lack of action.

Boris Johnson and his voters are responsible for the huge cost UK is very likely to pay for it.

People should try to do better than this government, only way to save yourself by this virus…

Yeah, praise the supply chains. If the lorry driver is not allowed to show up at work: How is the supermarket going to get stock? How will the supermarket move stock, if one employee got tested positive?
How does closing schools help? Let grandpa look after the kid and his friends? (mixing patients that can be symptom free with patients for which the virus can be deathly) Or to we place children and parents under lock down? How does that again uphold the supply chain, when the cashier and lorry driver are locked in with their childeren?
