What does the leak of Ukraine war documents tell us? – BBC News
The US Justice Department has opened an investigation into the leaking of dozens of classified American Defence Department documents on social media.
It is the biggest leak of secret American information on the war in Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion 14 months ago.
The maps, charts and photographs – some of them marked “top secret” – paint a detailed picture of the war in Ukraine.
The documents also reveal of details of Washington’s other allies, from Israel to South Korea, including internal debates those countries are having about Ukraine and other sensitive issues.
Pentagon officials are quoted as saying the documents are real.

President Trump has said the month-long ceasefire between the US and Iran is on “massive life support”. He described Iran’s response to US proposals to end the war as “garbage” and “totally unacceptable”, telling reporters: “That piece of garbage they sent us – I didn’t even finish reading it,”
Iran laid out its demands to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz in a counter-offer sent to the US on Sunday. Esmail Baghaei, a foreign ministry spokesperson for Iran, responded to Trump’s comments, saying Tehran’s proposals were “responsible” and “generous”.
Tehran’s offer includes an immediate end to the war on all fronts – a reference to the continued Israeli attacks against Iran-supported Hezbollah in Lebanon – a halt to the US naval blockade of Iranian ports and guarantees of no further attacks on Iran, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. It also reportedly includes a demand for compensation for war damage and an emphasis on Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
The US president said Iran’s leaders were “very dishonourable people”, adding: “Look, I’ve had to deal with them four or five times – they change their mind.” He also accused Iran of going back on an agreement to allow the US to remove its supply of enriched uranium and insisted that Iran would never have a nuclear weapon.

France’s interior minister said that 135 people have been arrested as tens of thousands join protests across the country.
Police in Paris earlier seized weapons and gas masks in a crackdown; in a social media post, they say “all is calm” in the city.
Today’s marches follow last weekend’s riots and looting that impacted thousands of businesses and saw more than 2,700 arrested.

Ukraine’s capital has come under a new missile attack, hours after Russia said it was “ready in principle” to resume peace talks and the US president said the world was “the closest we’ve been” to ending the war.
Several houses were hit on Wednesday night, injuring six people, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said.
The attack came amid a new diplomatic push led by Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Witkoff met Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in the city of St Petersburg on Wednesday – a day after meeting Ukraine’s leader.
Three-way talks were paused in February, after which Russia stepped up attacks as Ukraine ran out of Western-supplied interceptors to defend against missiles.

A US judge has ordered President Donald Trump to answer questions under oath in his defamation lawsuit against the BBC by 11 December.
Trump is suing the BBC over an episode of Panorama that edited together two different sections of a speech he gave before the riot at the US Capitol in 2021.
Charles Tobin, a lawyer representing the BBC, said in court that “we still haven’t been able to depose the plaintiff” with two months left in the discovery period, during which both sides are legally required to exchange information with each other on their case.
Trump cancelled a previous deposition on 16 October, citing “matters of national importance” while he was campaigning in Georgia.
The judge in the case, US Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett, said that Trump must sit for the deposition by 11 December, unless the discovery period is extended.

The West cannot win the war with Russia, nor anywhere in the world, because of some of its policies and concepts in dealing, especially the history of the West, which is famous for the coup in the agreement, and until now, the West needs to correct the path, and it needs a sound alliance with Muslims, especially from the noble family, so that they can have a role in the world

The truth must be told (& made known to all men): the Biden's White House deceived Zelensky and destroyed Ukraine (Boris Johnson also truncated a promising peace agreement)!
Ukraine was/is only being used as a proxy ("to the last Ukrainian," they say) in the West's aggression against Russia!
Ukraine must seek peace with Russia and end this senseless crisis.
All men of goodwill must speak up against the dangerous hypocrisy of the USA-led West.
