More than 100 killed in wedding fire in northern Iraq – BBC News
At least 100 people have died and 150 others injured after a fire broke out at a wedding in northern Iraq, state media has reported.
It is not yet clear what caused the blaze, but early reports say it broke out after fireworks were lit.
Photos on social media show charred-out remains of the event hall in Qaraqosh in Iraq’s Nineveh province.
The newly married couple are among the victims, according to the deputy head of the Nineveh health directorate.

China has vowed to protect its interests after the US announced plans to widen economic sanctions against Iran and its trading partners, which include Beijing.

It has been five years since the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, as western forces left, imposing their extreme, ultra-conservative interpretation of Islam on millions of people.
Their return to power brought relative peace to the country after two decades of war.
But Afghan women have been erased from public life. Girls are banned from school from the age of 12, and aren’t allowed to go to university.
Public parks are also off limits to women – and they can’t travel abroad without a male companion.

Why would anyone use indoor fireworks??? Wedding or for any event. Morons.
Not sure why they are talking about corruption blah blah blah…. it is common sense not to use fire inside a building. Invite 1000 people to your "celebration" and pretty much set it on fire using fireworks/ fire decor. The couple who paid for the fire at their wedding and wanted the fire to be used at their wedding is to be blamed. There are no fireproof wedding venues……

That looks just like how The Station Night Club fire happened in Rhode Island in 2003, they used pyrotechnics in an indoor venue, which went up too high, and caught the ceiling on fire within 30 seconds. That fire killed around 100 people as well. The simple solution is to stop using pyrotechnics indoors.
