AI ‘godfather’ quits Google over dangers of Artificial Intelligence – BBC News
Geoffrey Hinton, the man widely considered the ‘godfather’ of Artificial Intelligence, has quit his role with Google amid fears that AI could soon be smarter than humans.
Dr Hinton’s pioneering research on neural networks and deep learning has paved the way for current AI systems like Google’s Bard chat bot and Microsoft’s ChatGPT.
But in a statement to the New York Times, Dr Hinton said he now regretted his work as he resigned from Google.

The BBC has witnessed Israeli settlers attack Palestinians and set fire to olive trees in the occupied West Bank.
Several dozen settlers dressed in black charged down a hill near an outpost – illegal under Israeli and international law – to a field where Palestinians and activists were harvesting olives. They torched about a dozen trees and hurled stones from slingshots.
Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, who was at the scene, was taken to hospital where she told reporters she “got jumped” and described being kicked on the ground.
The UN says the past two weeks have already seen more attacks by violent Israeli settlers than during the entire harvest season last year. It says this year levels of settler violence have reached an all-time high.

This week tens of thousands of young people have taken to the streets of Delhi, India’s capital, demanding changes to the electoral system and the resignation of the country’s electoral commissioner. Thousands have been detained by police in the process.
They represent the ‘cockroach’ movement, a grassroots campaign group started by a Boston University graduate in protest at government policies and high youth unemployment. How did a movement that started as a meme capture the minds of India’s young people, and start to pose a challenge to its long-serving prime minister, Narendra Modi?

He retired from google because he was 75 and struggling to remember certain things. It had nothing to do with his concerns over AI. But hey, it's the BBC. Who cares about truth and facts right? There is one thing that truly separates AI from living beings. And that is numbers. What I mean is that AI cares about logic, statistics, numbers, facts and results. If it gets the job done then it doesn’t matter how much it costs, whether it’s human lives or money. All it cares about is logic and reasoning, all it uses is logic and reasoning. It can’t feel emotion, it can’t listen to reason, it can’t have feelings. It can’t make choices that go against the data. It can’t make choices that go against logic and it takes things far too literally. Which incidentally makes it cold and heartless.
THAT is what separates AI from living beings. And THAT is why it’s so dangerous.

We Russians has already created an Anti-AI AI hardwired program. Since it is hardwired it cannot be tampered or changed or deleted or edited or stolen. I don’t understand anything. From the beginning of Chat GPT risks were predictable. You don’t need to be an AI expert to guess the potential harms. So those AI godfathers should have been more aware than us. Why accept to develop it in the 1st place?????
