Today things are getting worse in UK universities. Conservative undergraduates are intimidated and reluctant to express their political leanings. Student unions and representatives are increasingly foreign and not related to white christian beliefs.

18 year old just follow like sheep, conditioned by middle aged educators.

Mature students are walking on eggshells.

Equality of outcomes is the trap used by titrants like Stalin and Mao to grab the power. Don't fall for this trap! Political correctness, woke, white privilege, critical race theory, gender fluidity and racism is all used to divide people, lower population, hurt demographics and inflect chaos in society. This are marksists tactics and everyone should be worried and ask yourself did USSR collapsed or just invaded the western institutions?

I am wary about the “denying a platform” because here in the states we’ve had issues where colleges are legally forced to not only host a figure they didn’t invite, and the student body don’t want coming there, but we’re also forced to foot the bill for providing security, which I think isn’t free speech at all, but bullying the college and the inconveniencing the student body so the speaker can save money.

I graduated uni only 3 years ago, and there is without a shadow of a doubt an authoritarian and woke culture at uni, it doesn't affect most students most of the time, but it is there. I have met a few extremely radical people at uni, and the union's wield their power like a dictator; banning clubs and societies for things like offensive costumes – I've seen it first hand. Although this biased channel phrases it as "only" – 22% of students feel their university threatens free speech. That number should be nearly 0% so this is absolutely a problem, and I appreciate the Tories tackling these immature radical leftists in student unions who feel they have the right to police what others believe and do.

    December 23, 2023 at 9:08 am

You aren't unbiased. And you're lying when you say you are. It's the subtleties like calling it the "so-called" free speech champion that are telling. You'll get my money when you become genuinely neutral, instead of giving neutrality lip-service.

  14. @adam346

    December 23, 2023 at 9:08 am

"I love free speech and those that decide to speak in a way that I do not agree with I will inherently change things on a governmental level to combat this choice that people are freely making!" It's not a war on "woke" it's a war on ideology that is taking routes in places of learning. You can say whatever you want.. but people are equally as free to shout you down. What the government is doing is is exactly the opposite of promoting free-speech… they can and constantly do spout racist, xenophobic and bigoted ideals… and so many people agree with them (or are willing to ignore) that they are in power… I don't F*kin get it. So basically they want to allow people to be as bigoted as possible and people have zero repercussions to them… I call epic-levels of twattery.

"We are a neutral channel…" That's gold, pure gold.

Anti-discrimination law from the Tories ey? The students must love it… wait no they hate it.

  19. @HajimeAru

    December 23, 2023 at 9:08 am

As soon as this law allows pro-paedophile speakers to talk about how the Age of Consent should be lowered, the Tories will surely change their mind on "free speech". Perhaps then, they'll learn what the Paradox of Tolerance is.

  20. @rocky76dude7

    December 23, 2023 at 9:08 am

    That's why woke is expanding
