Scientists have been using a new form of gene therapy to treat a rare inherited eye condition which eventually causes severe tunnel vision.
Scientists have been using the new treatment on patients to try to halt further loss of sight. And they’ve been astonished to find that it has actually improved their vision.

Violence against women and girls in Iraq is widespread, but under reported, according to UN experts.
For incidents of sexual violence, there are no official figures. Human rights campaigners in the country say more needs to be done to protect women who speak out. They say threats and incitement against survivors should be investigated as crimes.

Floods have hit Australia’s largest city Sydney for the third time this year prompting evacuation warnings to 50,000 people.
Parts of Sydney have received about eight months of rain in four days.
Roads have been cut off, some houses are under water and thousands have been left without power.
Widespread flooding across Australia – driven by a La Niña weather pattern – has killed more than 20 people this year, many in New South Wales.

Saudia Arabia vows ‘serious response’ to Houthi attacks and other stories | Global News Podcast
The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have continued to fire missiles towards Saudi Arabia, after a number of deadly attacks on Riyadh’s main international airport.
Almost all flights to and from the airport have been suspended. The Houthis say their actions are in retaliation for “brutal Saudi aggression” against areas they control in western Yemen.
Saudi Arabia’s energy minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman told a conference in Riyadh that the seriousness of the attacks required an equally serious response from the Kingdom.

So what's the name of the condition? It wasn't mentioned once.
I have rp, but with rp the peripheral vision deteriorates first where as this unnamed condition seems to be the opposite.

It is disheartening as an ophthalmologist to tell patients with retinitiz pigmentosa (disease in discussion here) that nothing can be done and that the vision will keep falling. I hope it gets available at lower prices around the world.

I had an eye doctor drag a tool across the back of my retina during an eye surgery. It made a 3 to 4 mm straight scratch on my retina causing me to lose vision from mid eye to far upper left. I am looking for new tech to see if this can be repaired. Anyone know if this can be applied?

My wife has tunnel vision; retinitis pigmentosa. She sees very well,reads well but her peripheral vision is terrible. She occasionally trips over little obstacles. Can she be helped with this new discovery?
