Ever since taking office last Summer, Boris Johnson and Chief Advisor Dominic Cummings have taken issue with the Civil Service. They think the Civil Service is too slow, not data-driven enough but most importantly not brexit-y enough. In this video, we look at the steps that Johnson’s administration has already taken and what this war means for the UK’s political system.

The Civil Service largely IGNORES Government policy in a lot of areas and simply implements its own policies and agendas in direct defiance of the impartiality principle.

Just who do the Civil Service think they are that they can decree the political will of the people void by declining to enact the policies the people voted for?

When the Civil Service are so clearly rogue and political then it becomes a political DUTY to oust activists who are committing treason and sedition by actively thwarting the democratic will of the people and just steering institutions according to their own politic will and that of their employees.

What a corrupt state of affairs it truly is.

The British Civil Service is what's keeping this country afloat. Like all bureaucracies, they have behaviours that are typical: admin mistakes, groupthink etc. But all countries have Civil Services, and surely you wouldn't want POLITICAL policy makers and enacters. Would you want Extreme-right wing SIS agents? or Radical MI5 staff? or Diplomats led by political hues. The Civil Service along with the Monarchy, has survived, and has managed to keep this country afloat. Politicians are in this for their ego; for money. Civil Servants make do with a moderate salary and give their life's work to Public good. The fact that they are predominantly well-educated is surely a good think, though one doesn't need a paper degree. The best ministries of the UK(GB&NI) are the MoD, HO, FCO, ex-DfID and DWP. (This is from colleagues who do work in the CS, and anecdotal.) I say thank you to all Civil Servants; thank you for keeping the country safe, security and running well.

The civil service is Her Majesty's Civil (as opposed to Armed/Military) Service. Ministers serve at Her request on the advice of whomever can command a majority of the House of Commons. Ministers are in law to be loyal to the Crown as are their civil servants. Its the civilian equivalent of the army et c. They arent the Prime Minister's armed forces, they're HM Armed Forces. Every soldier in the UK knows this and they wouldn't dream of fighting for whatever moron happens to run the largest party in Parliament.

The civil service has its own culture, and metropolitan ness is definitely one of its cardinal sins. Diversity at the top is making sure every College at Oxford and Cambridge is represented. Few will have been state educated and even fewer will be working class. The oiks can slog it out at the bottom rung, miles away from any politician.

  9. @michaelharrison236

    December 22, 2023 at 10:35 am

Brexit is the will of the British people the civil should obey the will of the British people and government they are there to serve and not be a political power themselves.

Civil servant Assesses and evaluate the situation neutrally, tell government it's findings.
Government Don't like the answer. Fires civil servant.

  14. @thoughtful_criticiser

    December 22, 2023 at 10:35 am

Moving the civil service outside of London will not help. The employees will be moved to, at great expense, thus any new recruitment will be of like minded people. This will have just relocated the problem and not solved it.

  15. @MJH1703

    December 22, 2023 at 10:35 am

The political classes still want back hand payments from the eu criminals they will not be elected ever again the people will votes for a total change in how the country will be run.

  19. @alanhill5756

    December 22, 2023 at 10:35 am

Of course you need a clear out. The civil service are also supposed to support the current government. The people want out. So the civil service should also want out. If they want to put themselves against the government and the people then they need to be removed. The civil service are not our masters. WE the people and it's elected government are it's masters. But I bet you cannot find a more self entitled bunch of dictators than the civil service. So purge away. That is the democratic way. So, (Sir Humphrey Appleby) on your way.

  20. @dougtina

    December 22, 2023 at 10:35 am

The civil service should be cleared out up on the change of Government.

  21. @danielbtwd

It might be a better system to do away with the political class altogether and just vote in civil servants.

As a police officer l can tell you she was a disaster and made a complete mess of the job.I do not agree with most of your video, most of the civil service needed to be updated.

Its well past time the Civil service was reformed ,the days of the old boys club were disbanded and people who can, and will ,kick out those incompetent in post , are sacked including reforming the PC friendly and politically biased .To many people have been promoted because of this well past their intelligence level and the devolving departments to the counties as well as Westminster itself is a controversial ,but I believe an exultant idea

  26. @leolion3942

    December 22, 2023 at 10:35 am
