US says Israel to begin daily four-hour military pauses in Gaza – BBC News
The US says Israel will begin to implement four-hour military pauses in areas of northern Gaza each day to allow civilians to flee.
The Israeli military says there will be “tactical, local pauses for humanitarian aid” but “no ceasefire”.
Meanwhile, the Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza said Israel has carried out airstrikes on or near at least three hospitals.
Israel has confirmed its military is operating close to Al-Shifa, the biggest hospital in Gaza City.
Videos circulating on social media show what appears to be the aftermath of a missile or mortar striking the hospital courtyard.
The BBC has not been able to verify the incident and the Israeli military said it is looking into reports of a blast.

Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma says the gaming giant needs to be “thinking about” affordability for its next-generation console, amid a “crisis” in computing prices.
Speaking exclusively to the BBC’s Laura Cress at Gamescom in Cologne, she said rising hardware costs partly driven by AI spending mean firms need to find ways to make gaming affordable.
She also revealed gamers will soon be able to get digital versions of many of the physical games they currently own, potentially meaning their old games can be played on future Xbox consoles without having to put a disc in a drive.

A 23-year-old Utah man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk – as a judge ruled prosecutors can seek the death penalty at trial.
Tyler Robinson denies aggravated murder, a capital offence in Utah, and six other charges in connection with the shooting of Kirk at a campus event on 10 September 2025.
Defence lawyers had tried to have the death penalty taken off the table, but prosecutors argued that aggravating factors, such as firing into a crowd in the presence of children, warranted a capital trial.
Turning Point USA co-founder Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Apple has renamed Lake Ontario as Lake America on its Maps app, after an order from US President Donald Trump.
It’s all part of Washington’s trade row with Canada.
The change was made for US-based users – those in Canada will continue to see Lake Ontario displayed. The BBC has contacted Apple for comment.

Today the BBC reported that Israel is going to help save babies from Al Shifa hospital and other hospitals in Gaza. You made us feel so good by giving us hope that some children will he saved. Unfortunately when I flipped the channel to Al jazeera English news the story was exactly the opposite. They filmed bombings of every hospital in Gaza. Civilians taking shelter in the hospitals can't leave because they have been targeted and killed . Doctors can't do their jobs because the drones are bombing people who are going from building to building in the hospital complex. Tanks are surrounding all hospitals . Al jazeera has staff on ground in the middle of the war zone bringing the truth out while BBC news is located in Jerusalem and only seems to repeatedly say the Israeli fake news propaganda version of news . Shame on you BBC news for your lies . You have repeatedly brought war criminals who are IDF colonels and high ranking officials who have consistently lied to us .
