Ukraine war: Kyiv denies Russia’s claims it occupies Bakhmut – BBC News

Published

on

Ukraine has disputed claims by Russia that it has taken full control of the city of Bakhmut.

Russia has lost thousands of men in its assault on Bakhmut, in the east of Ukraine, in the longest battle of the war so far.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky returned home from a meeting of G7 leaders in Japan in which he secured further promises of financial and military support.

During the visit he drew several parallels between Hiroshima and Ukraine, saying pictures of the Japanese city in ruins after bombing reminded him of present-day Bakhmut.

The Ukrainian city of Dnipro has also been targeted by Russian missiles, according to Ukrainian armed forces.

The @BBCNews is now trying to take the moral high ground by creating a whole new department called @bbcverrify. As one of the most UNTRUSTED sources of news, this is just another piece of propaganda, but no one is buying it. The @BBC is a family company spending public money. All information put out by the BBC itself needs to be verified. The #UKrain war has exposed Western Media.

Когда объединённый Запад радуется войне между славянами, он забывает, что происходит внутри. При этом Россия пока не вводит санкции по экспорту значимых товаров. 2024 для ЕС и США будет ужасным – Россия перестанет помогать и уйдёт в Азию.

More BBC propaganda and Lies! – Call for peace before groups like the BBC help destroy Ukraine and the innocent (including Ukrainian and Russian soldiers)

It has strategic importance as it was opened and maintained by the Russian's as a 'meat grinder' – they stated this at the outset and Ukraine under NATO guidance kept pouring more Ukrainian forces into the City! Stupid considering the superior firepower from 'stand-off' attacks that the Russian's have shown throughout the offensive (SADLY!).

Russia need this are to gain access to Odessa which is on the menu also! How can the BBC be lead so badly astray by the incidence of intelligence services and our war mongering governments using USA's foreign policy enforcement agency NATO.

GENE. HODGES AND PROF. FUKUYAMA :
"IF PEACE IS TO BE PERMANENT, UKRAINE MUST BE IN NATO".
Gen. Ben Hodges, one of the most outstanding military analysts and prof. Frankly Fukuyama, an eminent political scientist and geostrategist, came to the conclusion that after Ukraine won the war against Putin's regime, Ukraine must immediately join NATO.
Gen. Hodges: It is in Russia's interest that Ukraine belongs to NATO. As a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Ukraine will never attack Russia because it will not get the consent of 31 NATO members. Russia will also not attack Ukraine when it is in NATO, because that would mean war with the entire alliance.
On the other hand, if Ukraine concludes a forced truce but does not regain all of its lost territories, including the Crimea and Donbass, up to its 1991 borders, and after the war grows stronger thanks to Western investments, it will surely attack Russia one day to regain its lands.
Russia and Putin's regime must lose the war with Ukraine supported by the US, EU, NATO, G7, Rammstein Formula (54 countries).
After completing the political reforms, Ukraine will join the EU around 2027 and NATO around 2030.
The presence of Ukraine in NATO and the EU will greatly increase our defense, political, economic and military potential.
Regimes and dictators understand only one language: the language of power!

The politics behind the French riots | BBC Newscast

Published

on

Today, French cities have been given the power to implement partial curfews after violence across France over the weekend.

Hundreds of thousands of people turned out for protests against falling education standards and the rising cost of living.

There were outbreaks of rioting, looting, and arson, after weeks of student-led rallies across the country.

Adam is joined by the Financial Times’ Paris bureau chief, Leila Abboud, and Politico’s chief Europe correspondent, Marion Solletty, to discuss the situation on the ground, and how the government might respond just six months before the French presidential election.

Could this Canadian province really become its own country? | BBC News

Published

on

People in the province of Alberta will vote on 19 October on whether they want to start the process of separating from the rest of Canada.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called the upcoming referendum a “dangerous bluff”, comparing it to the Brexit vote that saw the UK leave the European Union.

But supporters of Albertan independence believe that the oil-rich province has long been overlooked by decision-makers in Ottawa, the national capital, and that federal environmental policies have hindered its ability to develop its natural resources.

So, could Alberta really become its own country?

The BBC’s Nadine Yousif takes us on a journey through Alberta to talk to both supporters and opponents of separation about their hopes for the country’s future.

Why are students protesting in France? | BBC News

Published

on

Tens of thousands of people are demonstrating across France, in protest at what they say is under-investment in high schools.

Some protests over the past week in France have turned violent, as protesters and authorities clashed.

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said: “Burning down a high school does not improve the state of high school buildings. Lynching a teacher does not help replace teachers”, adding it is a “lie” to suggest the government had ordered “police repression” against demonstrators.

Our correspondents report from the scene of the protests. In this video…
