Constitutions are foundational documents which set out how most countries are run. They are held as sacred and individual sentences studied for their true meaning. However, the UK and a handful of other countries avoid all of that by having an unwritten, uncodified constitution. In this video, we discuss the four different areas that the UK constitution draws from and how this kind of unwritten constitution works in reality.

It seems pretty much a certainty that Andy Burnham will be the next British prime minister. Exactly when it happens depends on a few factors. We outline some of the reasons an early general election is likely.

You mentioned that Blair asked parliament for permission for Iraq but didn’t mention they gave it to him.
He won that vote, and his argument wasn’t centered around WMDs but around Saddam’s human rights abuses.

An advantage? Totalitarianism here we come. There are nefarious men at work, in the dark, looking to undermine individual and religious liberty yet you say an advantage.
If the laws can change there's nothing stopping us from scenes like the French Revolution thats why l like God because he doesn't change hence evil cannot prevail his law of liberty is unquestionably perfect.

Like so many alleged experts on Constitutional law you have misunderstood the basics, we have a healthy constitution and it is supporting the rule of law, i suggest that you read it.

Convention is only as benign as the conventions in the heads of those who set it, convention is no longer adequate for the preservation of our rights; this is why you are less free than you were 30 years ago, and it is why the British constitution must be systemically dismantled

Sadly however, the reality on the ground is that our "human rights" dont exist unless you are rich.
The UK court system is entirely geared around bad judgements, requiring expensive appeals to rectify.
Look at the case of Count Dankula. His skit with the pug was entirely protected by a string of rights, privileges and legal statute concerning freedom of speech, satire, comedy and performing arts.
The reality was that the judge just said "no". He invoked his rights under EU human rights laws and the judge just said "no". The judge literally ignored the inconvenient legislation and rights, and then he had to fund raise and chase an appeal through the courts…. and at every stage they just said "no". They strung him out until his ability to appeal to the EU courts had timed out, and he was screwed. Now if he had unlimited money he could have just taken it to the High Court …. but only the rich and wealthy get to play THAT game.
The UK legal system is a farce, because the judges are a complete crap shoot, and only the wealthy get to have multiple rolls of the dice.

We have the same problem in Spain.. the more ambiguous the laws and statutes of a country the more corruption you know is operating in that nation, that conveniently uses that ambiguity to take the laws which they please and use as an instrument that gives an ends to their means
@Hopgoodd

Utter tripe! This is trickery! Constitutional Law trumps everything when required. We the British have the Magna Carta, FACT! A single defined source of law and the rights, the people are sovereign and the government are public servants including our King who is an equal to all. I suggest you do your own homework peeps! Peace 🙂 x

Having a codified constitution means there are some things you can NOT vote on. Or at least, it sets higher thresholds than simple majority to change some fundamental laws (e.g. 2/3rd or so).

judges have never, at any time, used gavels in England
@brendanodea8282
December 20, 2023 at 6:42 pm
Not having a constitution just means that the powers that be don't publicly fight about what the rules of the game are, because there are no rules so all is fair in love and war. Unfortunately it is the people of the nation that miss out in those circumstances because the rich and powerful never rule against their own interests. That is how the UK has maintained it's entrenched nobility (which one house of government is dedicated to) despite areas of extreme poverty.
The rules of the game must be written down, and the government must be balanced to represent social classes equally which means if you are to have a house of Lords, maybe you also need a house of porpers, alternatively get rid of nobility representation all together.

More than 160 laws are comprised to give concession to the British monarchy and this will continue to happens because Britain does not have a written constitution

The UK doesn't have a constitution as it is a contractual agreement between England irland Scotland and wales.england has a constitution magna Carta and is still in force to this day and will stand for all time so get your facts right instead of putting up false information.
