It seems pretty much a certainty that Andy Burnham will be the next British prime minister. Exactly when it happens depends on a few factors. We outline some of the reasons an early general election is likely.

Agreed I'd make that abortion question:
1. Completely illegal
2. Mostly illegal ( Exceptions like Life of mother, rape, incest, and extreme disability. )
3. Mostly legal ( 20 weeks, must be 18+ in age. )
4. Completely legal.
Personally I'm against abortion in most cases however I'd be #3 however I think mandatory counseling before the procedure should be required.
Also I'd add:
At what age should a person be allowed to have an abortion without parental consent?
Should the state pay for abortions?
Each following question should take you deeper down the ideological rabbit hole.
Oh and I'd put Anarchist instead of Libertarian.

I 100% believe that at LEAST 30% of "right wingers" actually have leftist morals and ideology and have just been swarmed by secterian populist politics or propaganda and empty slogans. Like they say, reality has a left leaning bias.

Also the rascism question is frased too direct, cuz real racists would never admit to, or see themselves as, racist.
Should've said "some races are are more likely to be criminals" or something along those lines.

9:10 I wil still judge you based in this, because a super majority of the people that responded to it were in the "libertarian left" and you said that 27% of the right identifiers ended up there, not 80% or something like that. The compass can be biased too, but you are clearly left-biased

December 20, 2023 at 2:19 am
You pose a false dichotomy, because issues surveys actually do show that a lot of people who self-identify as 'moderate' or 'conservative' actually also support loads of left-wing programs (and oppose right-wing ideological attempts to prevent, cut, or eliminate said programs), indicating that they are actually wrong when they self-identify. The mainstream media — which is literally owned by (and also largely operated by) very rich people who benefit from economically right-wing ideology, and do/would have to pay for economically left-wing programs — has inculcated a false consciousness amongst middle and working-class people which leads them to mis-self-identify as more 'conservative' or 'moderate' than they actually are. That, and the fact that that the mainstream 'left' is represented by a lot of people who don't actually support (or actively fight against) leftist ideology has led some people to hate them and reactively start to side with their critics — who largely happen to be on the right.

The test doesn't take into account the cultural differences of different countries too.
Even Democrats in US can be seen as pretty right leaning from a European standpoint.
Macron is seen as center right in France but could be seen as a left leaning leader in the US for example and is less right wind than tories in UK.
I'm conclusion, I'd say the label you attribute to yourself can be quite different from the label a internationalised test would put on you

December 20, 2023 at 2:19 am
I did the political compass but also sappyvalues, which uses a very similar graph. political compass puts me into the libertarian left corner and sappyvalues into the autoritarian left corner with a move towards the progressive part of their progressive-conservative bar. (but both fairly close to the center), the big difference is that one offers a neutral option and other doesn't. Another, different test put me into the social democrats and yet another one into liberalism.
So I'm either a libertarian left, a progressive authoritarian left, a social democraft or a liberalist. Someone try to make sense of that.

The bias in the discrepancy between the self-identification and the political compass test results may have an explanation: the test is calibrated for an American audience (for which that framing on the abortion question, for instance, makes much more sense), and what is considered "left" in the USA may be considered "right" in the UK.
If one could see the same bias in a worldwide audience (or whatever the target audience of the test is) regarding the discrepancy between self identification and political compass results, then it means that the test is for sure poorly calibrated and the questions should be revised. But I think the difference between the center in the UK and USA is a more plausible explanation.
The discrepancy between the TLDR team and its audience is small. It seemed that the TLDR team is slightly to the right of the audience, but it is great that there are several perspectives and points of view in your team.
@joshuabarresi6646
December 20, 2023 at 2:19 am
I should note that the compass was created by libertarians and any bias towards the left in the political compass is the result of incompetence and not bias.
@MorningNapalm
December 20, 2023 at 2:19 am
The Political Compass landed me at -7, -5. I would place myself, according to their own descriptions at maybe -2, -2.
On your left-right scale I would place myself at 2.0-2.5.
I don't know how to report the 8 value test result, but it called me Socialist, Peaceful, Liberal, Progressive, with dominant values of 81, 71, 61, 72.

the test is horrible, and a lot of the questions are unfathomably incoherent
