More Israeli hostages freed by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners – BBC News
Hamas has released 17 more hostages, including 13 Israelis and four Thai citizens. It’s the second group of captives to be freed in an agreement that includes a four-day truce between Israel and Hamas.
The hostages were transferred by the International Red Cross through the Rafah border crossing from Gaza into Egypt where they were handed to the Israeli authorities.
It’s understood that 39 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel are being released in return for the latest hostages being freed.

Gloria Steinem, who became a face of the women’s liberation movement in the US, has died, aged 92.
In a post on Instagram, her foundation said she “passed away peacefully” at her home in New York City on Wednesday, “surrounded by many who loved her”.
Steinem, who was a writer and magazine editor, co-founded the Women’s Action Alliance – a group dedicated to fighting sexism – more than 50 years ago.

Iran and the United States have carried out on the biggest exchange of attacks since July, stoking fears of a return to all out war.
Iran said 18 people were killed and more than 100 injured in latest US bombardment. It accused the US of committing a war crime by striking a wedding in the city of Kuhestak, killing four people including two children. The Pentagon responded by saying it does not target civilians.
In retaliation, Iran launched a wave of strikes against American targets in the region, including in Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq and Bahrain.
President Trump is warning that the US is prepared to carry out further strikes in response to those attacks.
There are warnings of a serious impact on the global economy, with further disruption to oil and gas supplies, affecting inflation and global borrowing costs.

In Nepal, a huge wave of mud and debris has left hundreds dead and rescuers racing to find survivors in treacherous conditions.

There are fears of more flash floods in Nepal, as rescuers scramble through villages engulfed in rock and mud in a desperate search for survivors of the flash floods that have left at least 1,400 missing and hundreds dead. It is feared that the final death toll may be much higher.
Survivors have been giving harrowing accounts of how their entire families were wiped away in the catastrophe.
Hundreds of foreign nationals are desperately waiting to hear from loved ones thought to be caught in the disaster. Nepalese authorities say at least 380 people are confirmed to have died.
The region is popular with trekkers from around the world and is a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists, visited by tens of thousands of pilgrims each year.
Travellers from at least 28 countries, are among those missing following the catastrophe. The Nepalese authorities says among those missing are citizens of India, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Japan, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, South Africa and Israel.
Tens of thousands of tourists make their way through Nepal annually. The disaster struck at the time of the year when people, especially Indian tourists, visit the area.
State media in China, which controls Tibet, reported three dead and at least 558 missing there. Among these are 260 foreign nationals. It is not clear if these figures overlap with the numbers provided by Nepal.
It appears that collapse of mountain glaciers triggered the disaster and there are fears of an imminent risk of further flash flooding without warning. Climate change is known to be driving faster glacier melt in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region, but scientists say it is too soon to pinpoint its role in this specific event.

More than 600 people have died following Wednesday’s devastating flash flood in Nepal.
At least 2,426 people are missing, Nepal’s disaster management authority says, as rescue operations continue for a fourth day.
Families of the missing – including at least 517 foreign nationals – are waiting for news on the whereabouts of their loved ones.
Emergency teams are warning that rain is making it difficult to reach some of the worst-affected areas.

It is quite obvious your reporting is one sided, you provide information about this hostage situation…. YOU neglected to mention that this is a trade of hostages…. so What hostages does israel hold? I believe there is many women and CHILDREN held in Israeli prisons who have been held for years without charges, representation, or convictions FOR YEARS… You fail to tell this side of the story… You fail to tell that Israel threatened the Palestinians in their reunion that they are not allowed to celebrate the release of their hostages or they will be arrested. You shell out an incredibly biased report with many holes to your story, and its disproportionate, without journalism integrity by ignoring the Palestinian hostage release….. your focus on the individual story (which is crucial to aid in view sympathy is not given equal display for Palestinians on the same equal subject…. you do cover your ass by bringing story back to gaza, bt that is an obvious side sweep of facts…. you are a FAIL. do better, be better… It is required in war propaganda, oops, I mean war journalistic integrity. You have been found judged to be complicit in war crimes by the public. I assure you.

After the Battle of Badr, Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him gave the prisoners 2 choices:
1- Teach 10 muslims how to read or write.
2- Have a relative pay thier ransom.
William Muir states in his book The Life of Mahomet :
“In pursuance of Mahomet's commands, the citizens of Medîna, and such of the Refugees as possessed houses, received the prisoners, and treated them with much consideration. "Blessings be on the men of Medina!" said one of these prisoners in later days; "they made us ride, while they themselves walked: they gave us wheaten bread to eat when there was little of it, contenting themselves with dates. It is not surprising that when, some time afterwards, their friends came to ransom them, several of the prisoners who had been thus received declared themselves adherents of Islam…Their kindly treatment was thus prolonged, and left a favourable impression on the minds even of those who did not at once go over to Islam"

To all those wondering how the resistance treated the Israeli prisoners, the military correspondent for the Israeli Channel 13, Alon Ben David, said – during a television interview – that he communicated with some of the prisoners released during the truce and they said that Hamas fighters “gathered the members of each kibbutz (settlement) together, which gave them A greater sense of comfort.” He added, “They were not subjected to violence or insult, and Hamas members tried to provide them with food, painkillers, and their regular medications as much as possible, under dangerous and harsh security conditions underground and inside the tunnels.” He continued, “They were sitting and talking to each other, and carrying out their activities normally. They use YouTube, and it has given them a boost to resilience.”
