New explosions near Iranian port cities, says state media | BBC News
Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News
The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Donald Trump scraps threat of 20% fee on Strait of Hormuz cargo | BBC News
President Donald Trump has reversed his threat of a 20% fee on all Strait of Hormuz cargo shipping, as the US battles to break Iran’s hold on the waterway.
He said the toll would be replaced by trade and investment deals with Gulf states, just hours before the US resumes a blockade of Iranian ports.
It follows renewed strikes between the US and Iran, which triggered a sharp rise in oil prices as tanker traffic through the Strait has virtually stalled.

That plumbing really impressed me. Also the image of the "pizza". Tomato wouldn't be an ingredient since it's from America, but apart from that it does look like a pizza. Pizza Pompeiiana maybe?

I appreciate the videos of Pompeii because I know I will never get to see it in person. It fascinates me and looking at Vesuvius in the background is sort of sobering.

Pompeii was not perfectly preserved. How stupid!! It suffered massive devastation before it was buried. It was then partially looted during the Renaissance. Perfect? NOPE!! Well preserved? In places. But please stop misstating a great story.

Lots of money is needed to maintain what's already been excavated. I don't know how they can do both that and work on what's still to be unearthed. Our guide told me Mr. Packard is paying for some of that because he loves Pompei, but his children have already said they won't spend any money on it when he is gone. If Italy did not have the level of tax evasion it has we could do so much more for our people and possibly also for Pompei and the rest of our artistic heritage.

It's too bad there's buildings where archeology needs to be. They should consider what Israel did and dig under them with huge steel supports for the buildings above.

Imagine living through this and not understanding what had occurred because of the scale. If somehow you could see in to the future, the time it took to tell this story is astronomical.
It makes you wonder what drives science and religion… what the root "need" is for us and our limited time on this planet.
