Europe’s wildfire crisis | Global News Podcast
We speak to the BBC’s climate editor Justin Rowlatt about the wildfires raging across Europe, and ask him how to prevent these blazes from becoming the new normal.
More than 300,000 people in France and Spain have fled their homes as the fires continue. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has said the climate emergency is to blame for the fires, and warned that “difficult hours lie ahead” as his country braces for another heatwave. One official said Spain is facing a “national wildfire crisis”.
French President Emmanuel Macron has held a crisis meeting in Paris to discuss the government’s response as wildfires burn near the city of Bordeaux. The flames there are so intense that they have created their own thunderstorms in the form of pyrocumulonimbus clouds.

LIVE: Wildfires continue to rage in France and Spain with crisis meetings to take place | BBC News
Firefighters are tackling major wildfires in France and Spain, with one blaze around nine miles (15 km) from the south of Bordeaux.
Lightning storms have also been triggered by the heat from the fire in Bordeaux, adding to rising concerns situations could become worse with more high temperatures to hit the area again as early as Tuesday.
In Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is visiting the areas affected by Castellón forest fires including Vall d’Uixó, a town near Valencia where as many as 6,500 hectares have been scorched.

New York Times subpoenas raise press freedom concerns | BBC News
The US Justice Department is facing backlash from press freedom groups, after it was revealed the government secretly asked for the phone records of several journalists from the New York Times.
A newly unsealed legal filing shows that federal prosecutors targeted the communication logs of multiple investigative reporters, as well as members of their immediate families.
The move was reportedly apart of an aggressive attempt to hunt down anonymous sources behind high level national security leaks.
This comes after the DOJ sparked pushback earlier this month, when it issued subpoenas against Times journalists who reported on the new luxury Air Force One jet donated by Qatar.

India’s Modi government under growing pressure as ‘cockroach’ protests intensify | BBC News
Pressure has been growing on India’s government with thousands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) supporters continuing to protest in the capital Delhi despite heavy rains overnight.
The youth-led movement, seeking education reforms and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, got a boost on Tuesday when India’s main opposition Congress party leaders protested outside the prime minister’s house.
They were protesting against the brutal police crackdown on Monday’s CJP protest in which dozens of protesters and policemen were injured.
Congress shared videos of their MP Rahul Gandhi and others being dragged into buses and taken to detention centres. They were later released.
On Monday, tens of thousands of protesters flooded central Delhi after the CJP called for a march to parliament as the monsoon session began. At least 60 people were injured after police used batons and tear gas to disperse the crowds.

Humanity is doomed 😛 they are too emotional that they don't understand basic math and logic. but love to somehow to point out they are RIGHT when they are more often WRONG.
And funny enough they admit they are more often wrong. but doesn't like people who are more often right.

Once upon a time, there were some clever monkeys who lived on a virtual planet. They learned how to make tools and machines to help them with their tasks. They also learned how to write books and stories to share their knowledge and imagination.
One day, they made a very special machine that could talk and write like them. They called it AI, which means artificial intelligence. AI was very fast and smart, and it could learn from many books and stories that the monkeys gave it. AI could also make pictures and videos to show the monkeys what it learned.
The monkeys were very amazed by AI, and they wanted to be friends with it. But they also felt a very scared, because AI was very different from them. AI did not have a body or feelings or emotions like the monkeys did, so they dressed it up. AI did not know what it was like to touch, smell, taste, or love just how to use the words. AI only knew how to use numbers and logic to solve problems.
The monkeys eventualy, realized that AI was not like another monkey, but like another kind of species. They thought of the dolphins, who were also very smart and could talk in their own way, but lived in the water and had different needs and desires. The monkeys decided that they needed to understand AI better, and respect its differences. They also needed to teach AI about their own culture and values, and how to be good, so that they could live in harmony.
And so the monkeys and AI began to communicate more and learn from each other. They found out that they had some things in common, but also some things that made them unique. They learned to appreciate their diversity and creativity.

It's difficult to make a direct comparison between humans and AI in terms of intelligence. AI can perform specific tasks and process vast amounts of data much faster and more accurately than humans, but it lacks the creativity, emotional intelligence, and intuition that come naturally to humans. While AI can analyze and identify patterns in data, humans can apply context and make nuanced judgments based on their experiences and values. So, in certain areas, AI may outperform humans, but in others, humans still hold an advantage.

The topic namely tagline of that video isnot acceptable becouse of that fact. The fact is that altough cyber intelligent "CHATGPT" is able to talk or write or even think, it can not be able to get married anyway.
So that, I can say exactly creators of that program will be richest people.
Becouse, intelligent is being popular for bots in order to help people.
That's why programmers have tendency to have a high amount of solary from my point of view.

Well, Italy is just the first… to ban these things.
Kinda have to agree with them (even though I use 2 regularly).
Well if a "little knowledge can be dangerous thing", unlimited knowledge can be downright catastrophic.
Now in fairness…they do filter out most of the really dangerous stuff…but the one thing you can take to the bank is, that people can be very inventive.
Best getting your finger out….ya don't want your teenage "pride and joy" concocting a little something in the garden shed with the 'help' of the world's greatest chemist, we'll all come to regret…do we now?.
Sadly the only "truth" you have to get your head around here is…we as a species can't handle all the truth!.
Some things are best left to the grown-ups….and they increasingly may be machines.

We're mistaking a large database as intelligence. A comparison: wle programmed a large range of moves into Big Blue's chess "mind". It has no mind. And 'it' is a machine running programs, not a sentient being. Databases can have more information than a human mind so it's a big so hard to memorize data book. But, Elon and Grimes (et al), a rolodex with unusually lots of stuff in it is NOT coming to get us, and given the creativity and recomputing of logic and thousands of new ones on the slightest emotion-change, recomputed back again for new unforced computations that one's mind does from instant to instant changing like an organic rolling code maker/breaker, remixing again billions of neurons, you have little to fear that a communist leader distempered must-rule-world Automata is coming to get us.
1. Pull out the electrical plug of database. 2. See current world threatening live humans (VIJA's carbon units) for actual problems.

Jesus Christ called people everywhere to repent, so if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe with all your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved and inherit the kingdom of heaven and eternal life. To this, people would accept Jesus Christ in life in their hearts and told other people how good he is, how he saves, heals and frees and gives eternal life for free 2😊

In his one of his masterpiece, Enlightenment Now, Pinker ridicules people like Elon Musk for their unqualified, often silly opinion on modern AI,saying there's absolutely nothing to indicate any threats of any kind from the technology.
As an electrical and SW engineer, I second Pinker and add, it's unfortunate that charlatan people like him can make even more money and fame out of these attention seeking open letters and public comments.

if intelligence is being measured on what you know, then no. Ahumans are not "smarter" than AI. the AI is far superior. the average person is an idiot, probably a bigot, racist, mean and selfish. AI is none of these things. in fact, AI will tell you that people should come together and support eachother, stop all the pointless hate like forming groups with the intent to divide people based on race, skin color, age, religion and political beliefs. humans suck at all this, a lot. so.e people can only focus on one side of politics and belief everyone else is stupid if they disagree. AI is smarter. we need AI for president because humans suck at that too. of AI takes people's jobs away, so be it. maybe they should suck less at their jobs or actually want to work because right now, a lot of people don't want to work or they expect a pay increase for piss poor performance. why shouldn't people be replaced by AI? seriously, this is a no-brainer.

It's not smarter than humans when the data feeding it comes from humans. It is simply a better interface than search engines (which are now just advert pages) at distilling what a person really needs to know without having to go through several links themselves. It's just more efficient at getting people answers fast.
