Russian ships accused of North Sea sabotage – BBC News

Published

on

Russia has a programme to sabotage wind farms and communication cables in the North Sea, according to new allegations.

The details come from a joint investigation by public broadcasters in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

It says Russia has a fleet of vessels disguised as fishing trawlers and research vessels in the North Sea.

They carry underwater surveillance equipment and are mapping key sites for possible sabotage.

What these journalists are saying is complete nonsense. They do not cite a single fact, but only assumptions born in their sick and depraved consciousness, and they spare no effort to inflate another political rubber duck, because such work is well paid. Anyone who calls the pitiful number of hydrographic and fishing vessels in Russia hundreds does not know the true state of affairs, after Yeltsin's destructive policy there are only a few of them left. But even if the Russians had carried out such an operation, they have every right to do so after the explosions of the Nord Stream. Another question is why these journalists are silent about the intelligence ships of NATO countries constantly cruising along the maritime borders of Russia and the naval bases of Russia? Norway is particularly zealous in this. The vessel shown in the video is an oceanographic vessel of the hydrographic service of the Russian Navy. All hydrographic vessels of other countries also belong to the naval forces of their States. The works performed by him are hydrographic, hydrological, geomagnetic, geophysical, meteorological. The crew of the vessel is completely civilian. Military men with weapons are attached to the ship only to go to sea to protect it. Over the past few years, the vessel has completed: circumnavigation of the world through the Northern Sea Route; two expeditions to Antarctica; expedition to the Indian Ocean. All the work was carried out away from those countries that are so afraid for their secrets, although they themselves know it perfectly well. As for the cables, they can be destroyed by a submarine, there is no need for a surface ship to glow in front of everyone's eyes. It is especially funny to hear the argument – "We came close to a foreign ship under a naval flag at sea, we look and photograph it, and, oh my God, they are also looking at us." You know, oafs, if it was an American ship, you would just be shot.

I'm hoping the wind farms have been searched for potential-explosion devices. This is scary.

This is pure propaganda we know who blew up the nordstream pipeline and they clearly said patrolling the area is normal they are trying to stoke fears.

We're the ones supplying Ukraine with weapons to kill Russians, you can say it's to defend themselves but they're not part of NATO and we have no business being involved I'm talking the West.

It would be the same if China was to send a bunch of money and military equipment to Russia yet we would say they were intervening or helping Russia when China nor Russia nor Ukraine are part of NATO it's none of our business and we have to stop the fake news.

The west is always trembling with unnatural fear about Russia.

British military intelligence told us the Russians are fighting in Bakhmut with shovels and they are in a helpless condition as a result.

The boats must be carrying those shovels to cut underwater cables. So nothing to worry about, sleep safely. Russians do not have technology for anything.

Well, with all due respect, but how is the title connected to the content? I mean, you've demonstrated that Russia has a ship that might allegedly be used for conducting some kind of underwater operations, you claim that this very ship might have something to do with the accident in Norway (yet, as I understood, no explicit accusation have been made and no significant evidence has been provided so far). Moreover, speaking of possible operations by the ship or those similar to her, you refer to the NordStream 2 accident, which is, we all know, is still unclear with, let's be honest here and not behave like blind and deaf, the western countries placing impediments for an international investigation. While sharing a common disrespect for the Russian media, I must confess that BBC is also a big piece of crap

Cyber Attack: Ransomware causing chaos globally – BBC News

Published

on

Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Is this AI’s moment of truth? | BBC News

Published

on

A year ago, artificial intelligence was being sold as something close to science fiction — a technology that could transform society, cure disease, even reshape the global economy.

Today, the tone is changing. The companies leading the revolution are racing to the stock market — chasing billions in investment — while quietly confronting a much harder reality: AI is expensive, unpredictable, and far from profitable.

At the same time, some of the very people building this technology are warning we may be going too fast — even calling for a global pause.
And beyond Silicon Valley, a different story is emerging: growing public anxiety, political backlash, and the rise of what some are calling anti-AI populism.

So is AI entering its most pivotal moment yet — caught between financial pressure, technological risk, and political resistance?

AI Decoded Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Financial Times AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, Thematic Strategist at Deutsche Bank Research Adrian Cox and Richard Coffin, Host of popular investing podcast ‘ The Plain Bagel’.
