Israel continues bombing of Gaza as US urges protection of civilians | BBC News

Published

on

The IDF says it is shifting the focus of its offensive to southern Gaza on a third day of renewed fighting.

The Israeli military says it is targeting Hamas command centres, weapons storage and naval forces after its ceasefire with Hamas fell apart on Friday.

The US defence secretary said Israel has a right to defend itself, but it has a “moral responsibility” to protect civilians.

Residents of Khan Younis yesterday said the southern city has experienced its heaviest bombardment since the start of the war.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have sought shelter in the area, after being told to flee the north of the territory, which was Israel’s main target in the early stages of the war

    BBC…..

Yesterday and today your reporting in the UK about how terrible the bombing in Gaza is and you pushing this view ….

Let me tell you what is terrible.

It is terrible that Israel has had rockets fired into its land for years! They have been terrorised by Hamas FOR YEARS!

What else is terrible is the Sexual Violence against the young girls and women during the massacre oct 7th.

What’s terrible is the SLAUGHTER against their communities! Men boys and children the Granada’s thrown into the bomb shelters with two boys and their father.

I don’t know where Jeremy Bowens sense and moral compass is but he need to repent and FIND one.

What done you understand about this terrorist organisation? They are disgusting lower than the lowest of humanity.

Gaza is a sea pit of evil.

Jeremy Bowen said Israel can stop this, no they can’t they MUST remove the threat.

What could stop the bombing though is that Hamas can release the Hostages and surrender.

You BBC and Jeremy Bowen are sick and you need to get on your knees before a Holy God.

Israel you do what you need to do. Thank you for taking more care than any other army has had to do in warning and protecting the civilians as much as possible of course civilians if they care for their lives should listen and move when told.

BBC we can see your bias towards Evil and I am glad Jeremy Bowen is not my father.

God is with you Israel against This Evil.

I am against you BBC, Jeremy Bowen and Evil.

Israel 🇮🇱 millions and millions probably billions are with you don’t let BBC let you think the general population believe like they do.

Everyone knows terrorising, kidnap, murder, rape, torture is AGAINST THE LAW. Hamas and genocide is wrong and you get them every last one of those who did this and my prayers are backing you up all the way.

    BBC are a DISGRACE

Hamas and the UN must leave Gaza.
The UN is a problem. They allow Hamas to bring in weapons and use UN schools as a rocket launched.
The UN is working with Hamas to destabilize the Middle East.

Once again, the descendants of the colonizers are blaming the indigenous people of Palestine for rejecting occupation, and as a result for rejecting that, a genocide,

just as the colonialists did in Australia and North America against the indigenous people. This catastrophe was caused by the colonizer who brought settlers in and

given land that neither of them did own, and now they give us lectures in living in peace with occupation and apartheid.

can't stand it. Every time I watch the news, I see children being killed, it hurts my heart.. Why is Israel so cruel…everyone is killed, even people and small children, even babies… whatever your reasons are, it's just an alibi to control the remaining land of Palestine.. you are the cruelest invaders on the face of the earth..!! you don't reflect on the holocaust incident, in fact you used that incident to expel and kill the Palestinian people for years. You are crueler than the Nazis ..!!using religious propaganda for vile purposes.. When the time comes for you to lose, I'm sure… no country will give you a place…!!

Websites taken down worldwide as AI reveals critical cyber-security threat | BBC News

Published

on

Websites have been taken down worldwide after critical weaknesses were revealed in a programming language which powers much of the internet. Governments and agencies are urging websites to address the problem immediately.

The vulnerabilities were found within the PHP programming language. The flaws were discovered by AI, with cyber-security experts saying were the most severe vulnerabilities ever discovered by the technology, which is reshaping the cyber-security landscape.

The US National Security Agency issued a warning for organisations to take their systems offline if they are unable to immediately apply a fix, which has now been issued. The governments of France and Finland were among those ordering shut down of some web services, along with many private organisations around the world. Japan’s prime minister urged people to check if their publicly-accessible websites ran on PHP.

The vulnerabilities were discovered by cyber-security researchers at the firms Calif and Wiz and were part of a program started by the internet firm OpenAI, called Patch the Planet. They discovered the issue after being given access to the AI company’s advanced AI tools, in order to find and fix flaws in web development language.

OpenAi said the discovery was “one of the most impactful security issues in recent memory”. The flaws had gone undetected for more than a decade. It’s estimated that around 70% of the internet could be vulnerable to the threat.

It had been intended to release details of the issue later this month along with a fix, or software patch, for the problem. However details of the flaw were leaked on social media, forcing PHP Foundation, the organisation that supports use of the programming language, to rush out an announcement of the vulnerability and its huge scale.

Jane Hill presents BBC News at Ten reporting by cyber security correspondent Joe Tidy.

Undercover: Solicitor offers to help ‘mini-mart owner’ dodge fine for illegal worker | BBC News

Published

on

A solicitor has been secretly filmed by the BBC explaining how he could make a £45,000 illegal working fine go away.

Mohammad Alias Yousaf – also known as Alias – made the claim to an undercover reporter, who was posing as a mini-mart owner facing a fine for employing an illegal worker.

The Bradford-based solicitor told his potential client he could avoid paying the fine if our undercover reporter could find someone overseas prepared to declare themselves the owner of the mini-mart.

Alias has denied ever providing such advice to anyone or giving false information to the Home Office.

At least £150m is currently owed to the government in uncollected illegal working fines, according to Home Office figures obtained by the BBC.

In response to our investigation, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced a review of the way illegal working fines are issued and collected.
