Gaza bombing: “End this god-awful nightmare” says United Nations – BBC News

Published

on

The United Nations has called for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza, saying the situation there has reached “catastrophic levels”.

The UN secretary general Antonio Guterres told a peace summit in Egypt that it was time for “action to end this god-awful nightmare”.

It came as the first trucks carrying aid entered Gaza from Egypt via the Rafah crossing. Earlier, Hamas had released two American hostages

Israel has said it’s stepping up its airstrikes on Gaza in response to the killing of its citizens by Hamas. Gunmen raided Israel on 7 October, killing 1,400 people and taking around 200 hostages.

Since then more than 4,400 people have been killed in Israeli air and artillery strikes in Gaza, according to Palestinian officials.

Jane Hill presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Wyre Davies.

Israel should stop the bombing. Go on a march and call for a ceasefire but stop chanting 'Free Palestine' – it's meaningless ( the naqba happened and there is no going back on Israel after 75 years) and is seen as aggressive.
The Palestinians have to move on from that and focus on a reasonable two- state solution. Israel has to give back the lands it has grabbed. It's not going to be easy with all the inflamed nationalism but the focus should be a on a decent future for the children.
This conflict is just creating martyrs for the Palestinian cause and not helping the Israeli side.

Today these non-Muslim rioters of Satan harm good people and begin to think they are above all rules, laws, and justice because a wise nation America can help them commit genocide. The American people do not support the Jewish development of humanity, but Biden has tarnished the government, if it is confirmed, they will pay the price in a certain collapse.
On the other hand, the general Jewish people protested to demand an end to the war.
    Location is in location.
Palestine has the right to an independent state if the Jews are free to express themselves.

There is no humanity in the world. Everyone in this world is selfish. People know what is true and what is false, but who is the culprit for their own interests. Everyone in this world respects religion not people. Those who cannot respect people cannot respect religion. You think you are Christian, you think you are Jewish, you think Hindu, you think Muslim, you think Buddhist, you don't follow any religion. After all, you are a human being. Religion cannot grow in people. Learn to love people first.

If there are any kind hearted people in this world who have so much compassion and kindness in their heart, please help the innocent Palestinian people. The Israeli army is bombarding the Palestinians like rain. Thousands of young children are dying because it is their fault that they are born in Muslim homes. To whom will I give judgment if the keeper is the eater?

Meghan apologises to court for misleading statement in privacy case – BBC News

Published

on

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has apologised to a court for forgetting about biography briefing notes she gave to an aide, in her privacy case against the Mail on Sunday’s publishers.

The Appeal Court heard she had asked an aide to pass on information to the authors of a biography – despite having earlier said she “did not contribute” to the work.

Meghan said she had forgotten the events and had not intended to mislead.

Associated Newspapers is trying to overturn a ruling after it published a letter from the duchess to her father.

Meghan, 40, won her privacy case against the publisher of the Mail on Sunday earlier this year, when the High Court found its publication of the letter was unlawful.

Iran-US peace talks fail to reach deal as Washington issues ‘final offer’ | BBC News

Published

on

Vice-President JD Vance has said that the US and Iran failed to reach an agreement following lengthy peace talks in Pakistan.

The delegations met in Islamabad during a temporary ceasefire.

Vance said the US “could not get to a situation where the Iranians were willing to accept our terms”. Halting Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been a “core goal” that wasn’t reached.

Iran’s foreign ministry says the talks were “intensive”, and called on Washington to refrain from “excessive demands and unlawful requests”.
