America’s new heroin addicts – BBC News

Published

on

*WARNING this film contains some graphic images* America is in the grip of a heroin and prescription-drug epidemic. More Americans – almost 50,000 per year – now die from drugs than from guns or in car accidents.

I was addicted to heroin for over 5 years, suffered severe depression. Not until I tried psychedelic mushrooms. I will be 3 years clean in November. Psilocybin mushrooms saved me from years of depression, anxiety and addiction.

    Step 1 legalize all drugs
Step 2 enforce strict quality control
Step3 free market makes drugs less expensive
Step 4 reap huge tax money and make life better for literarily everyone
Government: naw bro we are gonna keep throwing billions into the DEA and more billions to keep 47% of prisoners who are there for drug crimes locked up
Good job government! Y’all wonder why we aren’t having kids and everybody is leaving 🤷‍♂️

Opiate addiction is the most cruel brain disease you can possibly imagine, the fact that it literally highjacks your survival system, totally explains the desperation, the feeling like your dying, the stealing off people any well person would never do, the self hatred that you can’t stop, all just adds to wanting to be numb.
Opiates are excellent pain killers, but I think we should make better use of nerve blocks I do not think the doses prescribed, should be so high, and nobody needs a box 3-5days max, if pain remains, proper exploration is necessary, exercise, chiropractic treatment might be the better choice.

Alright, I'm going to say something here…
    ABSOLUTELY TRUE STORY…
I wish I could reach out to all addicts out there because I was one and I know the struggle all too well…
So before someone tells me I don't understand what addicts go through, don't even try it. Sometimes you just have to go extreme. I had an idea. I thought this is probably the only way it will work. It could have been a jail cell or just someplace I could voluntarily be locked up for 12 hours. I even said even if it was against my will, LOCK ME IN ANY WAY… YES, it's scary. YES it took some courage. YES, I knew what to expect and what I was going to go through.
AGAIN, I convinced myself that this is the only way it will work.
SO, there…. I was locked in. I had everything I needed. Bathroom, shower, food, drink, and a bed. 12 hours to the last second, I had someone come in and someone locked us both in there, and I was handed a SUBOXONE… This was the plan
It had to be 12 hours at least because detox was necessary or it would have been worse.
WITHIN 2 MINUTES after placing the Suboxone under my tongue I shit you not, I was NORMAL and I cried and NEVER looked back. I had my life back and I have 11 years clean. I don't even think about it anymore… The first couple of months yes it crossed my mind but I wasn't hurting. So, it wasn't a problem. Eventually those thoughts went away….
THOSE OF YOU THAT STRUGGLE AND FIGHT, PLEASE IF YOU CAN TRY THIS, No….. DO THIS. Get your life back…
    And Godspeed…🥹🙏❤️

How casually she’s saying “I overdosed “nd ur poor boyfrnd running to find narcan to revive you …… they cry when they dont get their stuff or in withdrawal but as soon as they get high ,they are again on top of this world nd this cycle revolves around you till you quit

There’s a lot of Americans who are drug addicts! All I can say is that they will bear the suffering of what they are doing!

If they don’t stop then they will beat the consequences of this! My husband has stopped taking this long time ago and he made a good choice!

Americans are destroying their own lives but it’s their lives though! It’s them who will suffer NOT ME!

Russia and Ukraine say emergency alert apps hit by cyber-attacks | BBC News

Published

on

Ukraine and Russia are reporting cyber-attacks on their emergency alert apps, with fake warnings sent to users around the countries.

Ukraine was first to report problems, and for a short time the capital Kyiv was subject to a radiation threat, the Ukrainian Air Force has said.

A few hours later Russian authorities said its app was hacked, with a Ukrainian espionage group reportedly sending fake warnings of nuclear strikes inside Russia.

Meta hit with its largest fine ever for ‘lies’ about user data privacy | BBC News

Published

on

Meta was ordered to pay $25bn (£18.6bn) by a judge in New Mexico after a two-week trial earlier this year which found it had spent years lying to the public about how it handled Facebook user data.

“The lies extend beyond Facebook’s data practices as well,” the judge said, adding they went to “the heart of Facebook’s core business practices”.

Meta’s head lawyer CJ Mahoney said the ruling made it “all but impossible to do business in the state of New Mexico”. The company intends to appeal, which Mahoney says will be successful.

New Mexico’s lawsuit stemmed from the role of Meta in what became known as the Cambridge Analytica scandal and New Mexico had also accused the company of intentionally misleading the public on how it benefitted from content that included hate speech.

Did adult entertainment sites invent monetising attention? | BBC News

Published

on

With the advent of OnlyFans, pornographic content has become a fixture of mainstream social media. But the influence of the adult entertainment industry on internet culture arguably began decades ago. On this episode, Matt and Marianna are joined by journalist Patricia Nilsson who has reported extensively on the secretive personalities who control ‘Big Porn’ and the business model behind it. We discuss the revolutionary data tracking practices first implemented by so-called tube sites to monetise attention, the regulatory trade-off between safety and privacy, and why anonymity online may be leading to more extreme pornography fuelled by our most primal instincts.

Top Comment is hosted by Marianna Spring and Matt Shea.
