There’s always a happy medium that they always seem to ignore.

Just lay off 20% or so of the civil service & put up pay for those that remain.

That 8.7% Inflation mentioned is for a specific set of items.
    Real Inflation is 11.3%.

Catch up with the tax avoiders, bring Dividend/capital gains into line with income tax, get some of the Furlough Fraud money back, Reform Council Tax, move the high rate tax band considerably further up the income scales. These measures would put more disposable income into economy and increase tax revenues. All this is pie in the sky unless the avaricious nature of the super wealthy/powerful is reversed

There is so much waste in the public services. If they just did what they are employed to do this country would save billions. Police, just enforce the law, with no fear or favour. Teachers just teach the core elements, not your opinions. Council just sort stuff, don't make a mountain out of a mole hill. MPs only one job serving the public.

Labour isn't in power Liam deflecting again from the last 23 years. Public sector pay dose not affect inflation. When the service is free at point of use… Basic economics ! …. Conservative corporate pay master's huge profits are responsible for inflation……. But thats not in there interest to say. !??!!??

The Tory’s are a joke, they signal to the left constantly. The public sector will never vote en mass for you so give it up, use the massive majority to smash the institutions that oppose ever Conservative principle.
They won’t though because they are not actually Conservatives, just a liberal party that is a little more economically liberal than labour.
It’s time to smash them and the public to vote for actual right wing parties.

  12. @adp3965

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

No one asks can we afford it when it comes to paying billions of taxpayers money to ferry in and bankroll tens of thousands of useless illegal immigrants who destroy our quality of life and offer nothing to society. Think about that for a while.

  13. @kanderson4417

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

Start deportations ,save money on illegals and free up housing for the people that belong here.

The sooner the British people get rid of Rishi, the unelected pretender the better. Shame on the Conservatives , who dont want to conserve anything.

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

We can afford it more than:
    1. Foreign aid.
    2. Paying for the boat blokes.
    3. Sending munitions and cash to foreign conflicts.

Am I the only person who thinks it is wrong for our military to get a pathetic 5% while military families are being evicted from their homes in order to house illegals this clown is really due to be thrown out of no 10 . Danger is the labour party will be even worse unless people wake up and vote REFORM.

  18. @papichuckle

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

Stop the boats from coming, tax the energy companies more and tax the rich more (I'm sure living off 1 million quid a month instead of 2 is possible for them).

Open all the coal mines, start fracking on our own land and start drilling more in the north sea but we all know that wont happen.(oh and it would be nice to have all our factories back)

The British public are spineless cowards that have very ineffective strikes that dont work instead of having a riot which is surprising with how expensive everything is that a riot hasnt happened but im sure all the boomers will continue to hoard all the wealth and that wealth will just stay in their families making them even more rich

  19. @andrewstafford-jones4291

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

The government should just pay the rate of inflation to them all.
The UK is completely finished anyway, just keep printing the money, importing another 20 million migrants and we can let the new Muslim majority decide the future.
We are completely bankrupt and this dystopian country needs to be put out of its misery and hopefully we can return to a basic 3rd world economy.

  20. @alexgriffin3959

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

What's interesting is that Unions are 'Socialist' but actually only interested in their own pay. Funny that

  25. @EppingBlogger

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

So governments following "the experts" has been a success? Covid? BoE money supply and inflation? OBR? I don't think so.

Given the reduction in public sector labour productivity over several years, the idea it can be improved at six per cent a year is ridiculous.

I'm going back to teaching after retiring 18 months ago at 53 (for the second time) and already I am getting over 4k pay rise in September. Not a problem if the Government was funding it 100%, but half of it is coming from current school budgets. The Government idiots have even set aside 40 million contingency fund for schools that can't manage. Sick of idiots messing with education who don't give a FECK! When this sort of public spending happens other will suffer

  33. @crzldesign231

    December 29, 2023 at 1:39 pm

You also gotta remember, when they say teachers and police ONLY get c.40k per year, you have to also take into account the effective pension contribution as well. A private sector employee would have to put in the same again to get their resulting pension. That means teachers, nurses, police are effectively on nearly 100k per annum.

Sunny Sunak the last of the big spenders. Hahaha. Go big or go home. Biden called up army reserves preparing for Draco invasion of Earth and the Draco space craft are huge. Hahaha. This will be hilarious.
